Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Wilton, Wiltshire
The motor stays where it is — mobile DPF cleaning comes to it. The fitter pulls up at your place in Wilton and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the car, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the price is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
Most owners find us with the light showing, and the car low on power. That is the situation this page is written for.
Your DPF light is lit — what then?
It could not be the DPF whatsoever. That is the first thing. That light can come from a number of faults, not just one, so the visit begins with a diagnostic and not with a clean.
How the car is run in the meantime makes a difference too.
- A long even run may yet manage it, provided the light is amber and the motor goes normally. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before ringing.
- Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not reach it. The window has shut.
- Get it seen to rather than using it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the throttle, has gone well past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the car was warning you
The light is belated news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have normally been building for a while:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- worse fuel consumption
- stop/start quietly bowing out
- the car stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
None of that is conclusive on its own. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair guess.
Why diesel particulate filters choke near Wilton
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the type you get around a rural village such as Wilton. The school run to Burbage Primary School, Grafton Road at a halt at half past eight, a few minutes to Tesco, the run to Bedwyn — not one bit of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. The soot load collects rather than burning off.
Neither is distant from Wilton: under 10 miles to the M4, under 25 miles to Salisbury. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter never happens.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer run
What limp mode amounts to is the car defending itself. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode rules out: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration on offer.
So the standard advice to run it up the motorway is sound advice, right until it is not. The filter needs cleaning rather than driving once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode.
Mobile DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Wilton
On your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a while: the job is done with the filter even now bolted on, which is the detail most people do not anticipate.
The ECU is taken first, reporting soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a check of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated components, so nothing is started while another fault is still in play.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are lifted after that, by a cleaning fluid passed through the access point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Where the filter is badly loaded, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean loosened. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Wilton, with you present, or it is done where the car waits and the live data is checked after.
Then a second scan, confirming the change, clearing the warning light and listing anything still outstanding. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
Cleaning answers one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, showing a restriction that is not real
- EGR valves that stick open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- a regeneration that hardly ever starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- oil passing through the filter from a faulty turbo
Which is why the scan happens first. You are warned before the work starts, not after you have handed over, where it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth knowing. Having the filter hollowed out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a working DPF fails its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your existing filter is treated in place and returned into use.
DPF cleaning prices around Wilton
Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.
Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it over phone, once the car and its probable needs are known. Whereabouts you are matters as much as what you run: Wilton itself, Crofton close by, or farther out within the SN postcode area.
You are not charged for a clean that the check says will not work. The call-out charge even so applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have taken place.
The work comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Wilton if the light reappears inside that period.
Had a lad called daz come out to blocked dpf on a fiat 500 diagnostic check and clean explained from start to finish the faults excellent job and showed what caused the problem and what I need to replace to stop future problems.
At the moment 5 stars had my car done 3 days ago so far so good Liam the mechanic was very professional and polite only took 2 hrs max he gave me maintenance tips leaflet which is useful ill see what the next few weeks bring.
Done with efficiency and professionalism. Will recommend. Peter was very friendly and easy to talk to. Very professional. Very happy customer.
Where we travel near Wilton, and what we clean
Whatever it is — private car, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one call-out service holds, and the filter never leaves it.
Wilton is hardly ever a special trip: technicians are along Grafton Road most weeks, and the same run covers Crofton, Marten and the places out past East Grafton. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so even further out through Wiltshire is nonetheless worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Questions Wilton drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- Quickly enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It wants a steady run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes to Tesco and back.
- Broadly how long does it take?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
- How much does it cost in Wilton?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for coming out that pays for the scan and advice on what to do next. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you live both change the figure.
- Have I have to be there?
- The motor requires a place for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Wilton?
- That depends on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is open across the SN area.
- The filter — does it leave the car?
- Done where it is, on this service, so no. We will not lift filters off or fit them back on, whichever way.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- An engineer heads back out to Wilton — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
