Mobile DPF Cleaning in Wigwig, Shropshire

Sorting the DPF happens at the motor, not at a workshop. Your car isn't taken anywhere and the filter doesn't leave it. A fitter arrives at your place in Wigwig, treats the diesel particulate filter still on the car and runs a DPF regeneration.

The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the price is settled by the phone before anyone leaves.

The light is showing and the car is down on power — that is how we generally come across people, and precisely what this page deals with.

Your DPF light is on — what now?

First thing: it is not always the unit. A scan goes before any work, because that same dashboard light has plenty of candidate faults behind it.

How the vehicle is run in the meantime matters too.

  • A long even run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the car drives as normal. Costs nothing at all, so have a go at that before ringing.
  • Motor already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not touch it now.
  • Get it looked at rather than using it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

The car has been warning you already

By the time the light arrives, things have usually been deteriorating for weeks. It is late news:

  • less power, especially going uphill
  • you notice the revs never reach where they always went
  • worse fuel consumption
  • silently, the stop/start gives up
  • a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle

Any one of those, taken by itself, is not proof. Next to the light, it is a fair guess the filter is loaded.

What clogs diesel particulate filters near Wigwig

Wigwig is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that comes with one is the poorest type for a DPF. Nothing of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Much Wenlock Primary School, Homer Road crawling at the morning rush, five minutes to Co-op Food, the run to Wellington (Shropshire). The soot builds up rather than burning away.

Save when you have a regular reason to drive out to the M54, under 10 miles from Wigwig, or out to Wolverhampton under 25 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a sustained stint. Geography is against you.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working

What limp mode amounts to is the car looking after itself. A proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode rules out: power held down, revs kept low, no regeneration available.

The common advice — take it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The filter wants treatment rather than driving once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.

The motor stays where it is for mobile DPF cleaning in Wigwig

The filter does not come off. That is the bit most owners do not expect: the job is done with the DPF even now fixed to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, any place the motor can wait for a few hours.

Nothing is touched until other faults are cleared. That requires a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by actual weight, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and related hardware.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are loosened next, by a solution passed through the entry point on that car, which expands inside the filter. Where the filter is severely clogged, plan on a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. Come with the motor and it turns into a monitored drive out of Wigwig. Park it and the regeneration goes in place, with live data read once it is done.

Both read-outs go over by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second diagnostic is what verifies the change, puts out the light and notes whatever is still showing.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • sensors, temperature or pressure, flagging a block that is not real
  • an EGR valve held open
  • AdBlue system failures
  • a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter

Finding that out is the first check's purpose. You are told before any work begins, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.

Cutting the filter out is not a fix: without a working DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the phrase people type in, though nothing is replaced — your own filter is treated in place and put back into use. Two more worth noting.

DPF cleaning charges across Wigwig

Every visit carries a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, carrying out the check and offering the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.

Once we are told what you drive, and roughly what the filter will want, the figure gets agreed over phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. What you drive and where you are both change it: Wigwig itself, over at Sheinton, or farther out across the TF postcode area.

Treatment that will not do it is not cleaning you pay for, and the scan is what says so. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge still applies.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Wigwig.

Great service. No garages would touch the issue so to find this company that comes to your house was brilliant. Effective communication and booked in quickly which I appreciated. The job was completed before I could offer them a cuppa! I would recommend this company.

Very nice young gentleman he did a good job and his advise was noted and issues that he picked up will be looked in to in the coming weeks.

The vehicles we clean and the area we cover near Wigwig

Cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery — the one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned in place rather than carried anywhere.

Our engineers are along Homer Road week in week out, so Wigwig is rarely a special trip, and the same run picks up Sheinton, Much Wenlock and the places out past Homer. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out through Shropshire is nonetheless worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

What Wigwig drivers wonder about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
Soon enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a steady stretch, rather than a brief trip to Co-op Food.
How long does the visit run?
Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is severely loaded.
What does it come to in Wigwig?
The call-out charge pays for the visit, the check and the advice; cleaning itself starts from £299. Quoting is done by phone, since what you own and where you sit both shift the price.
Is it essential for me to be around?
You need not stand with it — the car simply requires space to sit for a couple of hours. Ride along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
When can someone travel to Wigwig?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the TF area.
The filter — does it leave the vehicle?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. We will not take filters off or bolt them back on, whichever way.
Suppose the light comes back?
An engineer comes back out to Wigwig — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
