White Post, Dorset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. A technician comes at your door over in White Post, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
You'll have a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the car low on power. That is exactly what this page is aimed at.
What to do when the DPF light is on
The unit is not automatically what is at fault, and that leads. Several faults put the very same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with treatment.
It counts what you manage with the car between now and the appointment.
- A long constant run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the car runs normally. Costs zero, so try that before booking.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has already gone.
- Get it looked at rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
The vehicle has been telling you already
Symptoms have usually been building for some time before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:
- power dropping away, especially climbing uphill
- you find the revs stop short of where they always went
- worse fuel use
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. Next to the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
The explanation diesel particulate filters clog around White Post
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the type you find across a rural hamlet such as White Post. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Marnhull, Great Down Lane crawling at the morning rush, a few minutes to Aldi, the run to Gillingham (Dorset). The soot load builds up rather than clearing.
Geography does not assist either. The M27 is under 50 miles from White Post and Wells is under 25 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way regularly, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that could clear the filter on its own.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode is. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode prevents: power held down, revs pinned, no regeneration available.
Running it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it stands as far as a limit. The far side of that point — limp mode — more driving will not manage it, and the filter wants cleaning.
The vehicle stays put for on-site DPF cleaning round White Post
The filter does not come off. That is the part most owners do not see coming: the job is done with the DPF still bolted to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a few hours.
First a check. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it read before any of it is cleaned.
A cleaning fluid after that is fed in through the access point on that motor, opening out inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely clogged filters.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of White Post; if not, on the spot where the car stands, with the real-time data read afterwards.
Then a second diagnostic, proving the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both sets of figures are sent over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
The faults a DPF clean cannot answer
Only one fault is cured by cleaning: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- temperature or pressure sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that stick open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting whatsoever
- oil coming through the filter from a failing turbo
Which is why the diagnostic happens first. You are told before the work begins, not after you have settled up, where it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is swapped: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it gutted a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth noting.
The cost for DPF cleaning in White Post
A call-out charge holds whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice given. Treatment itself starts from £299.
No flat rate would be straight, so the number is settled by the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. A pair of things move it: what you run, and where you are — White Post itself, over at Todber, or otherwise out across the DT postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for a clean that the diagnostic says will not work. Because the visit, the check and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still stands.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer coming back out to White Post if the light comes back inside the window.

What we clean, and how far we travel near White Post
The one on-site service spans cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is done where it sits rather than carried anywhere.
Our engineers are along Great Down Lane nearly every week, so White Post is rarely a detour, and the same run takes in Todber, Stour Provost and the spots out past Fifehead Magdalen. Coverage runs UK-wide, so even further out through Dorset is even so worth a ring, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Questions White Post drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- Sometimes, if you get it early and the vehicle has not dropped into limp mode. That means motorway speed for a steady spell, rather than a quick trip to Aldi.
- Does the visit take long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- How much does it run to across White Post?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for the call-out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we quote on the phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the car only wants somewhere to stand for a couple of hours. Wanting to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the open road, monitored.
- Travelling to White Post — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the calendar. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the DT area has available.
- Is the filter lifted off the motor?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it sits. Nor does taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- The light returns — then what?
- The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer coming back to White Post.
