Mobile DPF Cleaning in White Cross, Herefordshire
Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. Your motor will not be taken away and the filter does not budge. A fitter turns up at your address over in White Cross, cleans the diesel particulate filter on the motor and runs a DPF regeneration.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the price is fixed over the phone before anyone travels.
The light is showing and the car is down on power — that is how we normally find people, and what this page covers.
Your DPF light is showing — what then?
The filter is not always what is wrong, and that comes first. A number of faults put the very same light on the very same panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with treatment.
How the vehicle is run in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Amber light, vehicle even now driving as normal — a long even run can still clear it alone. Costs nothing, and worth a try before you call anything.
- Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been deteriorating for weeks. It is late news:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- worse fuel consumption
- stop/start without a word giving up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration
None of that is conclusive alone. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is showing too.
Why diesel particulate filters clog round White Cross
Being a residential suburb, White Cross generates exactly the driving a DPF manages least well. Look at a normal week: Trinity Primary School and home, Wordsworth Road at a halt before half nine, a quick trip to Aldi, a hop to Hereford. Not much there goes on long enough or is hot enough to complete a regeneration. Soot that should burn away collects instead.
The map does not help either. The M50 is under 15 miles from White Cross and Hereford is under 3 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way often, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that could scour the filter on its own.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode kills it
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode means. With power held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter requires cannot complete at all. That tells, because setting off one is precisely what a motorway run does.
So the standard advice to run it up the motorway is sensible advice, until the day it is not. Beyond that point — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter needs treatment.
The car stays in place for on-site DPF cleaning round White Cross
On your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can stand for a while: the job happens with the filter even now fixed on, which is the bit most owners do not see coming.
A scan comes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated parts, so other faults are ruled out before a thing is touched.
Then the clean. A cleaning fluid goes in through the access point on that car and expands inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to need doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of White Cross if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the live data verified afterwards.
A second check verifies the change, clears the warning light and lists anything still open. Both reports are emailed, so you have the before and after figures on record.
Where treatment is not the answer
Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- pressure or temperature sensors showing a block that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration completing in the first place
- oil passing through the filter from a worn turbo
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. When it turns out to be one of those, you are let know before any work begins rather than after you have paid anything.
Gutting the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the wording people search for, though nothing is swapped — your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
The figure for DPF cleaning across White Cross
The treatment starts from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that goes with it.
The figure is agreed by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be straight. Where you are counts as much as what you drive: White Cross itself, Moor Park nearby, or farther out across the HR postcode area.
Where the check says a clean will not help, you are not charged for a clean. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, carried out the scan and passed on you the advice.
If the light returns inside that window, an engineer heads back out to White Cross — the clean carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
Andras was brilliant. Text me when he was 10 mins away, he was very informative whilst working and really organised. Anymore problems with my DPF I will contact DPF fixer again no hesitation.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we cover round White Cross
The one call-out service takes in private cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is treated in place rather than moved anywhere.
White Cross is rarely a special trip: our engineers are along Wordsworth Road most weeks, and the same run covers Moor Park, Bobblestock and the places out past Kings Acre. Further out through Herefordshire is even so worth a call — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that settles between this day and the next.

Things White Cross drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- Sometimes, if you catch it early and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. A long run at motorway speed is what it takes — not ten minutes to Aldi and back.
- The visit lasts how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly blocked filter can take cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- Cost in White Cross — what is it?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we quote on the phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- No. The vehicle needs space to wait for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.
- Can someone get to White Cross soon?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is available across the HR area.
- The filter — does it leave the vehicle?
- Treated where it is, on this service, so no. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
- And if the light reappears?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to White Cross.
