Last news, the light. The symptoms usually mount for weeks before it shows:
- dropping away on power, especially uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they once did
- worse fuel use
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair guess.
