Mobile DPF Cleaning in West End and Somerset
With on-site DPF cleaning, we come to the motor. The fitter pulls up at your place in West End and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned still on the car, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone travels.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the vehicle short of power. That is the position this page is meant for.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the unit, necessarily. First thing to note. A clean is not where a visit begins. A scan is — plenty of faults appear as the same warning.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.
- Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, motor driving normally, just one steady run, no charge.
- Vehicle already dropped into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you
By the time the light arrives, things have usually been going wrong for weeks. It is late news:
- less power, especially going uphill
- an engine whose revs will not rise like they did
- fuel use turning worse
- the stop/start silently bowing out
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
That is not proof by itself. Alongside the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.
Why diesel particulate filters block round West End
Being a residential suburb, West End throws up exactly the motoring a DPF handles the poorest. The school run to King Ina Church of England Academy, St Cleer's Orchard at a halt at half eight, a few minutes to Londis, the run to Yeovil Pen Mill — not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. What should burn off stays behind.
Except when you have a regular reason to head out to the M5, under 15 miles from West End, or across to Wells under 15 miles away, entire weeks pass without a sustained drive. Geography is unhelpful.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
What limp mode means is the motor protecting itself. Power is limited, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter wants can never run — which is the entire catch, because a long drive works by starting that regeneration.
Running it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it holds right up to a line. Past that point — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter requires treatment.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands in West End
Nothing leaves the car. That throws people. The DPF remains fitted where it is and the work is done around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, wherever it can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is interrogated first, reporting soot load by percentage and by actual weight, along with a review of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected components, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never budge are freed second, by a cleaning fluid fed through the access port on that motor, which expands inside the filter. Where the filter is heavily blocked, plan on a second pass.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean freed. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of West End, with you present, or it runs where the motor waits and the live data is checked once done.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a block that is not real
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration completing in the first place
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
The first check is there for just that. Proving to be one of them means hearing it before the work starts, not after settling up anything.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no solution. What gets searched for as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into work.
What DPF cleaning comes to across West End
Every visit takes a call-out charge — travelling to you, taking the booking, carrying out the diagnostic and passing on the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
No flat rate would be honest, so the price is settled by the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Two separate things change it: what you run, and where you are — West End itself, across at May Pole Knap, or farther out within the TA postcode area.
Treatment that will not help is not treatment you pay for, and the check is what says so. What even so holds is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the diagnostic was carried out and the advice was passed on.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer coming back out to West End if the light reappears inside the window.
Nat arrived on time, super friendly and quickly reassured me that it was a blocked filter. Worked his magic, saved me from having to cancel work commitments. Highly recommend.
Done with efficiency and professionalism. Will recommend. Peter was very friendly and easy to talk to. Very professional. Very happy customer.
Had a clean. Didn't fix problem. Came back out. Still didn't fix the problem. Wast of time and £400.
Where we reach around West End, and what we clean
The one on-site service takes in cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is done on the vehicle rather than taken anywhere.
West End is seldom a special trip: engineers are working St Cleer's Orchard most weeks, and the same run covers May Pole Knap, Northfield and the places out past Upton. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out through Somerset is nonetheless worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in West End
- Does a long run clear it?
- If you get it in time, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It wants a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes to Londis and back.
- Roughly how long does it take?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can need a second clean, which extends that.
- Cost in West End — what is it?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the figure.
- Must I be around in person?
- The motor wants a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Wanting to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- Getting to West End — how soon?
- That hangs on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is available across the TA area.
- The filter — does it come off the motor?
- Treated where it sits, on this service, so no. We will not get filters off or put them back on, either way.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to West End.
