West End, Cambridgeshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. No garage, no filter going anywhere. A technician comes to your door in West End, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the price is fixed over the phone before anyone sets off.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the vehicle down on power. That is the situation this page is written for.
The DPF light is on. What next?
Not the filter, automatically. Opening thing to say. A scan comes before the cleaning, because that same dashboard light has a number of candidate faults behind it.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then makes a difference.
- Amber light, vehicle still driving as normal — a long steady run can still shift it alone. Costs zero, and worth a try before you ring anything.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now closed.
- Get it checked rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the vehicle has been warning you
Last news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for weeks before it shows:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- fuel consumption getting worse
- the stop/start quietly bowing out
- the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you press on
Alone, none of that is evidence. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
What blocks diesel particulate filters near West End
West End is a rural hamlet, and the day-to-day driving that belongs to one is the poorest kind for a DPF. Run through a normal week: Wheatfields Primary School and back, Old Hurst Road at a standstill before half nine, a quick trip to The Co-operative Food, a run to Huntingdon. Not much there goes on long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. What should burn away remains.
Except when you have a routine reason to get out to the A1(M), under 10 miles from West End, or across to Cambridge under 15 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a long unbroken run. Geography is no help.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
Limp mode is the car protecting itself. The whole difficulty is that a long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.
So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it is not. The far side of that line — limp mode — road work will not manage it, and the filter wants cleaning.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands in West End
On your drive, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours: the job happens with the filter yet fixed on, which is the bit most people do not expect.
A diagnostic comes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and associated hardware, so other faults are eliminated before anything is cleaned.
A solution next is injected through the access point on that motor, expanding inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. A second pass is sometimes needed on badly blocked filters.
What the clean has lifted is then driven off by a regeneration. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of West End, with you there, or it goes where the car waits and the live data is checked after.
A second scan confirms the change, clears the warning light and lists anything still showing. Both reports are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures on record.
Where cleaning is not the fix
Only one fault is answered by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- pressure sensors showing a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- an AdBlue system problem
- a regeneration that simply never completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Which is why the check comes first. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you hear about it up front rather than once the money has gone altogether.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your existing filter is treated in place and goes back into service.
The price of DPF cleaning around West End
Cleaning starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
The number is settled by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be straight. The place you are counts as much as what you run: West End itself, Old Hurst next door, or farther out in the PE postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not work, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. The call-out charge even so applies, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer coming back out to West End if the light returns inside the time.
Ashley have done a very good job, well done to him I would recommend DPF fixer to anyone colleagues and friends i had a test drive and wow it's like brand new good service from the engineer God bless.
Professional company. Chris explained what he would do, then gave me a detailed printed report afterwards. Communication was good throughout. Very pleased.
Done with efficiency and professionalism. Will recommend. Peter was very friendly and easy to talk to. Very professional. Very happy customer.
Where we reach near West End, and what we clean
The filter is done where it sits on all of them: cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Most weeks there is by then someone on Old Hurst Road, so West End hardly ever means a special trip, and Old Hurst, Fenton and the spots past Woodhurst follow. Ring anyway from even further out around Cambridgeshire. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the day you are given depends on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

What West End drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- It might, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not arrived. That means motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a brief trip to The Co-operative Food.
- Roughly how long does it last?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is severely blocked.
- How much does it run to in West End?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the scan and the advice; the clean itself begins from £299. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
- Is it needed for me to be there?
- You need not stand with it — the vehicle just wants a spot to stand for a couple of hours. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration is done as a supervised drive.
- Can someone come to West End soon?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is open across the PE area.
- Is the filter taken off the motor?
- It is done where it is, on the mobile service. Nor does taking a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to West End.
