Belated news, the light. The symptoms usually grow for weeks before it appears:
- power dropping away, particularly going uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb like they did

- the stop/start silently packing in
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
By itself, none of that is evidence. With the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog near Washgreen
