Mobile DPF Cleaning around Wanlip and Leicestershire
Treating the DPF takes place at the car, not at a workshop. A technician turns up at your door across Wanlip, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the price is agreed over the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the motor down on power. That is the position this page is written for.
Your DPF light is lit — what next?
First thing: it is not automatically the filter. Treatment is not where a visit opens. A check is — several faults appear as the same warning.
How the car is run in the meantime makes a difference too.
- A long even run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor runs normally. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before calling.
- Car already gone into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop booking long drives and get it checked.
Before the light, what the motor was warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been deteriorating for weeks. It is late news:
- pulling uphill, the power drops away
- revs that will not climb the way they used to
- the fuel consumption is poorer
- the stop/start silently bowing out
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
That is not conclusive by itself. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
Choked diesel particulate filters around Wanlip, and the reason
Being a village, Wanlip throws up precisely the motoring a DPF copes with least well. The school run to Riverside Community Primary School Birstall, Church Road at a crawl at the morning rush, a few minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Syston — nothing of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. The soot load builds up rather than burning away.
Neither is distant from Wanlip: under 10 miles to the M1, under 5 miles to Leicester. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the run that would scour a filter never gets made.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the motor protecting itself. With output capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter wants cannot complete at all. That tells, because setting off one is exactly what a sustained run does.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. The filter requires a clean rather than road work once the motor has gone into limp mode.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done round Wanlip
Most people do not anticipate this part: the filter stays put. The job happens with the DPF even now fixed to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a while.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and related components, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still possible.
Then the treatment. A cleaning solution is injected through the access point on that vehicle and opens out inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. Badly loaded filters sometimes require a second pass.
A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Wanlip; if not, statically where the motor sits, with the live data read after.
A second scan confirms the change, clears the warning light and logs anything still showing. Both reports are sent over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.
The faults a DPF clean cannot cure
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not reach:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, showing a blockage that is not real
- the EGR valve jammed open
- AdBlue system failures
- a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. You are let know before any work starts, not after you have settled up, if it turns out to be one of those.
Cutting the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the wording people search for, though nothing is swapped — your own filter is treated in place and put back into use. Two more worth knowing.
The cost for DPF cleaning across Wanlip
Every visit carries a call-out charge — coming out to you, making the booking, running the check and offering the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
Quoting a flat rate would not be honest. We agree it on the phone, once the vehicle and its likely needs are clear. What you drive and where you are both move it: Wanlip itself, out at Cossington, or farther out in the LE postcode area.
If the check writes a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. What still holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was carried out and the advice was given.
The job includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Wanlip if the light reappears inside that period.

What we clean, and how far we travel round Wanlip
Private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery — a single mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated in place rather than moved anywhere.
Week in week out there is already someone on Church Road, so Wanlip rarely means a journey of its own, and Cossington, Syston and the villages past Thurmaston follow. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is one day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone even from further out through Leicestershire.

Things Wanlip drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- If you catch it early, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. Ten minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not manage it; motorway speed, held for a while, will.
- Does the visit take long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely clogged filter can need a second clean, which extends that.
- How much does it cost in Wanlip?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we price on the phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- The car wants a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Travel along if you prefer, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
- Coming to Wanlip — how soon?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is open across the LE area.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- Done where it sits, on this service, so no. We will not lift filters off or fit them back on, in either direction.
- Suppose the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Wanlip.
