Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Walcote, Leicestershire
Cleaning the DPF takes place at the car, not at a workshop. Your motor will not be taken anywhere and the filter doesn't leave it. A technician comes at your address in Walcote, treats the diesel particulate filter on the car and performs a DPF regeneration.
You'll have a price by phone before anyone goes, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
Most people find us with the light already on, and the motor short of power. That is the situation this page is written for.
The DPF light is on. What next?
The filter is not always what is wrong, and that goes first. Several faults put the identical light on the same panel, which is why a visit starts with a check rather than with a clean.
It matters what you do with the motor between now and the appointment.
- A long constant run may even now be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor runs normally. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before calling.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has shut.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it looked at if the interior reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
Before the light, what the vehicle was warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have normally been going wrong for a while. It is last news:
- pulling uphill, the power tails off
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- worse fuel economy
- stop/start silently giving up
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under acceleration
Any one of those, taken alone, is not proof. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Walcote
Being a village, Walcote throws up just the motoring a DPF copes with worst. Think about a typical week: John Wycliffe Primary School and home again, The Nook at a standstill before nine, a five-minute run to ALDI, a hop to Rugby. Nothing there goes on long enough or gets hot enough to see through a regeneration. The soot load builds up rather than burning off.
Neither is a long way from Walcote: under 3 miles to the M1, under 15 miles to Leicester. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the drive that would empty a filter never comes.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. With pulling power held down and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires cannot run at all. That counts, because starting one is just what a sustained run does.
Good advice, that motorway run — until the day it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that point: a clean is what will work, not more road work.
On-site DPF cleaning where the car stands in Walcote
The filter does not come off. That is the detail most owners do not anticipate: the job happens with the DPF even now fixed to the vehicle, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a few hours.
A check comes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and connected parts, so other faults are cleared before anything is started.
A solution then is fed in through the access port on that car, expanding inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. A second pass is sometimes called for on badly clogged filters.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Walcote, with you there, or it goes where the car stands and the live data is read after.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still outstanding. Both reports are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- a pressure sensor flagging a block that is not there
- the EGR valve jammed open
- the AdBlue system failing
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration running at all
- turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. Turning out to be one of them means learning it before any work gets going, not after paying anything.
Two things more worth knowing. Having the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is cleared in place and put back into use.
What DPF cleaning comes to across Walcote
The treatment starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
Quoting a flat rate would not be honest. We agree it by phone, once the vehicle and its expected needs are established. The car shifts it, and so does the location — Walcote, Misterton, or somewhere otherwise out in the LE postcode area.
If the diagnostic rules a clean out, there is no charge to pay for it. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.
Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer comes back to Walcote.
Really helpful on the phone call, didn't have to wait long for an appointment with the engineer, then engineer was great.
I phoned at short notice and they managed to fit me in the same day. The fix has worked a treat.
Igor, was extremely helpful, carried out a diagnostic test and found that my DPF was cracked and needs replacing, so no point in carrying out a clean. Explained everything and gave advice. really helpful service.
What we clean, and how far we go around Walcote
The filter is done on the vehicle on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Week in week out there is usually someone on The Nook, so Walcote hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Misterton, South Kilworth and the villages past Lutterworth follow. Farther out through Leicestershire is still worth phoning about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that decides between today and tomorrow.

Questions Walcote drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- It may, provided you spot it in time and limp mode has not begun. That means motorway speed for a steady run, rather than a quick trip to ALDI.
- How long does the visit last?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which lengthens it.
- What does it run to around Walcote?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the check and the advice; treatment itself begins from £299. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we settle it on the phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- The vehicle requires a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be run as a monitored drive instead.
- Can someone come to Walcote soon?
- That depends on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the LE area.
- Does the filter leave the vehicle?
- Done where it stands, on this service, so no. Taking a filter off or fitting one back on come to anything a job we do in either direction.
- And if the light comes back?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Walcote.
