What the motor has been showing you
The light is last news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have normally been growing for weeks:
- power falling off, especially pulling uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- worse fuel use
- silently, the stop/start bows out
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle
Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. Alongside the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
What clogs diesel particulate filters around Vaul
Vaul is a coastal area, and the driving that goes with one is the least kind type for a DPF.
