Mobile DPF Cleaning around University and Greater Manchester
Treating the DPF takes place at the car, not at a workshop. A technician turns up at your place in University, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Allow for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled over the phone before anyone leaves.
If the light is on already and the motor is short of power, this page is the right one. That is how most owners arrive here.
What to do when the DPF light is on
The DPF is not automatically what is wrong, and that goes first. A scan happens before all treatment, because that same dashboard light has plenty of candidate faults behind it.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Vehicle yet driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long constant run first. It costs zero and regularly shifts the filter without help.
- That window has shut once the car has dropped into limp mode. Driving will not get there now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it checked.
Before the light, what the motor was telling you
Last news, the light. The symptoms tend to mount for weeks before it appears:
- tailing off on power, above all uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they once did
- consumption that is worse than before
- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
On its own, none of that is proof. Alongside the light, it is a fair bet the filter is full.
Why diesel particulate filters clog around University
Being a residential suburb, University generates just the driving a DPF copes with least well. Think about a typical week: St Philip's Church of England Primary School and back, Oxford Road at a standstill before the hour, a short hop to Co-op Food, a hop to Manchester Oxford Road. None of it there runs long enough or runs hot enough to see through a regeneration. Instead of burning off, the soot load banks up.
The A57(M) lies under a mile from University, Manchester under a mile out, and unless something carries you out that way routinely, full weeks pass without the sustained run that clears a filter. Geography does not help.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. The whole catch is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.
The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. Past that stage — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter wants cleaning.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands across University
The filter does not budge. That is the part most owners do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF still fixed to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a couple of hours.
First a check. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a figure, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the related parts — all of it taken before a thing is cleaned.
A cleaning solution next is fed in through the access point on that motor, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. Badly blocked filters sometimes take a second pass.
What the clean has freed is then burned off by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of University if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the live data checked once done.
A second check proves the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still open. Both read-outs are sent over, so you have the before and after figures to hand.
The problems a DPF clean cannot answer
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment answers. It will not reach:
- the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
- the EGR valve jammed open
- AdBlue system faults
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever completes
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. You are told before the work gets going, not after you have settled up, if it turns out to be one of those.
Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is swapped — your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
The figure of DPF cleaning across University
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
No flat rate would be truthful, so the figure is agreed on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. A pair of things change it: what you own, and where you are — University itself, out at Brunswick, or farther out in the M postcode area.
A clean that will not do it is not cleaning you pay for, and the check is what says so. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.
If the light reappears inside that time, an engineer comes back out to University — the clean carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
Brilliant! Spoke to someone on the phone and they had availability next day to get me booked in! The issue was solved in a timely manner and I got sent a report detailing everything. Great company! Would defo recommend!
Huge thank you to Carolina and Andras for an exceptionally efficient and prompt service. 4 hours from the time I placed my initial call to the DPF being cleaned. We'll definitely be using you again.
Prompt service from Liam who took 1 hour to discover the problem and advise accordingly, with no need to have a new DPF which was quoted at £1600 from Mazda. Weight off my mind, many thanks.
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach round University
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
University is hardly ever a special trip: technicians are along Oxford Road nearly every week, and the same run takes in Brunswick, Hulme and the spots out past Stretford. Coverage runs UK-wide, so even further out through Greater Manchester is nonetheless worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning around University
- Will a long drive shift it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it in time and the motor has not dropped into limp mode. That means motorway speed for a steady run, rather than a short trip to Co-op Food.
- Does the visit last long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
- What does it cost around University?
- A clean opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why settling it goes by phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- You do not need to stand with it — the motor simply needs space to stand for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive if you would rather come along.
- How soon can someone travel to University?
- That comes down to the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the M area has open.
- Is the filter taken off the motor?
- Cleaned where it stands, on this service, so no. We will not get filters off or put them back on, either way.
- What if the light comes back?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to University.
