Mobile DPF Cleaning around Undy and Monmouthshire
The motor remains in place — mobile DPF cleaning travels to it. The fitter pulls up at your door over in Undy and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the vehicle, a DPF regeneration follows, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
Nobody travels until the number is fixed by the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
The light is on already and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we generally find people, and precisely what this page is about.
The DPF light is on. What now?
The filter is not automatically what is wrong, and that leads. A diagnostic comes before all treatment, because that same panel light has a number of likely faults behind it.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- Car yet driving normally on an amber light — attempt a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and frequently sorts the filter without assistance.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has closed.
- Stop booking long drives and get it checked if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Signs the car has been showing you
By the time the light appears, things have generally been deteriorating for weeks. It is last news:
- pulling uphill, the power drops away
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- fuel consumption going worse
- a stop/start that has silently given up
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
None of that is evidence on its own. The light beside them suggests a blocked filter.
The explanation diesel particulate filters choke around Undy
Undy is a coastal village, and the motoring that belongs to one is the worst kind for a DPF. Run through a normal week: the local primary school and home again, Main Road at a crawl before nine, a quick trip to The Co-operative Food, a dash to Severn Tunnel Junction. Nothing there runs long enough or is hot enough to complete a regeneration. What should burn off remains.
Geography does not help either. The M4 is under a mile from Undy and Newport is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way routinely, entire weeks go by without the long steady run that might clear the filter by itself.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is. The entire catch is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is capped.
Sound advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are past that point, and the filter requires cleaning rather than road work.
On-site DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Undy
The filter does not budge. That is the detail most people do not expect: the job happens with the DPF still fixed to the vehicle, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a few hours.
First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a mass, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it taken before a thing is cleaned.
A cleaning fluid next is injected through the access point on that car, expanding inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. A second pass is sometimes needed on heavily blocked filters.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has freed. That is a monitored drive out of Undy if you are there, or a static regeneration where the vehicle waits, with the live data verified afterwards.
Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second scan is what proves the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still outstanding.
The faults a DPF clean cannot answer
One thing is what a clean cures — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor reporting a block that is not there
- EGR valves that jam open
- the AdBlue system playing up
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration completing in the first place
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
That is what the first check is for. Proving to be one of them means hearing it before the work begins, not after handing over a penny.
Two more worth knowing. Getting the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use.
What DPF cleaning runs to across Undy
Cleaning starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
The price is agreed on the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be honest. Two separate things move it: what you drive, and where you are — Undy itself, across at Whitewall Common, or further out in the NP postcode area.
If the scan writes treatment out, there is not a penny to pay for it. What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the diagnostic was done and the advice was passed on.
Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer heads back to Undy.
Very grateful of the service, Logan was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely recommend. Booking and organising home visit was easy and efficient. Thank you so much!
Good service! They cleaned up my DPF and fault diagnosed 2 other issues. I went and ordered a new glow plug relay and air mass sensor. Replaced on arrival. cleared the faults with an OBD and voila! All lights out and my van now runs like a stallion! Happy days.
Dpf blocked EML light on Excellent service job done in about 1hr EML light came off as soon as I restarted 5 stars.
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Undy
Whatever it is — car, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one on-site service applies, and the filter never leaves it.
Our engineers are along Main Road most weeks, so Undy is rarely a detour, and the same run covers Whitewall Common, Knollbury and the villages out past Magor. It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so ring even from farther out through Monmouthshire.

Common questions on DPF cleaning around Undy
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Quickly enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That means motorway speed for a steady run, rather than a brief trip to The Co-operative Food.
- Broadly how long does it run?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly loaded filter can take a second clean, which adds to that.
- How much does it come to around Undy?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle just requires somewhere to wait for a couple of hours. Choosing to be there is welcome: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- Can someone get to Undy soon?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is typical. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is open across the NP area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is done in place. Getting a filter off or fitting one back on come to anything a job we do either way.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Undy.
