Mobile DPF Cleaning across Tyrie and Aberdeenshire
The vehicle remains where it is — call-out DPF cleaning travels to it. A fitter comes at your door over in Tyrie, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone travels.
If the light is on already and the motor is low on power, this page is yours. That is how most people get to us.
The DPF light is on. What next?
The DPF is not always what is at fault, and that comes first. A number of faults put the identical light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit opens with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.
How the car is driven in the meantime counts too.
- A long constant run may yet be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor drives as normal. Costs zero, so have a go at that before ringing.
- That window has closed once the car has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not help now.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it looked at if the cabin stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Signs the motor has been sending you
By the time the light appears, things have usually been slipping for weeks. It is belated news:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- fuel economy getting worse
- the stop/start quietly bowing out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not conclusive. The light alongside them suggests a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Tyrie
For a DPF, the least kind driving is the type you get in a rural hamlet such as Tyrie. A regeneration takes long enough and heat, and has neither: not on the school run to the local primary school, not on A98 at the morning rush, not on five minutes to Asda, and not on the dash to the nearest station. The soot load collects rather than burning away.
Save when you have a routine need to head out to the M90, over 50 miles from Tyrie, or out to Aberdeen under 50 miles away, weeks go by without a sustained stint. Geography is no help.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is. A long drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration possible.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands up to a point. Past that stage — limp mode — more driving will not manage it, and the filter wants treatment.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle round Tyrie
The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most people do not see coming: the job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a while.
The ECU is read first, showing soot load by percentage and by mass, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still possible.
A solution after that is fed in through the access point on that vehicle, opening out inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Where the filter is severely clogged, allow for a second pass.
A regeneration follows, driving off what the clean has loosened. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Tyrie, with you there, or it goes where the motor waits and the real-time data is verified afterwards.
A second scan proves the change, clears the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you have the before and after figures on record.
What a DPF clean will not touch
Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- temperature or pressure sensors reporting a restriction that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- an AdBlue system failure
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration starting in the first place
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
Which is why the check goes first. You are warned before all work begins, not after you have settled up, if it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is swapped: the filter you have is treated where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it gutted a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
DPF cleaning costs across Tyrie
A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.
Once we are told what you drive, and roughly what the filter will want, the number gets fixed over phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. The car shifts it, and so does the location — Tyrie, Mid Ardlaw, or somewhere farther out in the AB postcode area.
You are not charged for treatment that the scan says will not do it. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.
The work carries a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Tyrie if the light reappears inside that time.
Great and speedy service. DPF now completely clean and running smooth. Liam who did the clean was friendly, and very informative of the process. Would recommend these guys.
Excellent service. Arrived on time and happily let my husband watch the process. Very helpful and explained everything. Not cheap but the difference in the car is amazing. Would recommend.
Had my cars dpf cleaned 3 days ago and warning light has not come on. Its a little early to tell if its fixed, but so far so good.
Where we reach round Tyrie, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned on the vehicle on all of them: cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Week in week out there is already someone on A98, so Tyrie rarely means a journey of its own, and Mid Ardlaw, Peathill and the spots past Rosehearty follow. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out across Aberdeenshire is nonetheless worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Things Tyrie drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- If you catch it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It takes a sustained run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes to Asda and back.
- How long does the visit last?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily loaded filter can take cleaning twice, which adds time.
- What does it come to in Tyrie?
- Cleaning starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the scan and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
- Is it essential for me to be around?
- A spot for the car to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. Wanting to be there is welcome: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- Coming to Tyrie — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the AB area.
- Will the filter be taken off?
- It is cleaned where it is, on the on-site service. Lifting a filter off or putting one back on come to anything a job we do whichever way.
- And if the light comes back?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Tyrie.
