Mobile DPF Cleaning in Tyle and Carmarthenshire

Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the car. A fitter arrives at your door over in Tyle, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the car, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.

You'll be given a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean starting from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

Most owners find us with the light showing, and the car low on power. That is the position this page is written for.

Your DPF light is lit — what now?

Not the DPF, always. Opening thing to note. A diagnostic comes before all cleaning, because that same panel light has plenty of candidate faults behind it.

Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.

  • Amber light, car yet driving normally — a long even run can even now shift it on its own. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you call anything.
  • That window has closed once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not do it now.
  • A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop planning long drives and call.

The vehicle has been telling you already

The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have generally been growing for weeks:

  • less power, especially pulling uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not rise as before
  • the fuel economy is down
  • quietly, the stop/start bows out
  • diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox

Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. The light alongside them indicates a loaded filter.

Why diesel particulate filters block round Tyle

The driving that goes with a small village like Tyle is the least kind type for a DPF. The school run to the local primary school, Dolau Tywi at a crawl at the morning rush, ten minutes to L J Bailey, the hop to Llangadog — none of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should clear collects instead.

The M4 sits under 15 miles from Tyle, Swansea under 25 miles out, and unless something carries you out that way routinely, whole weeks slip past without the sustained run that empties a DPF. Geography does not assist.

The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen

The car is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. Output is capped, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter requires can not happen — which is the whole difficulty, because a long drive works by triggering that regeneration.

Sound advice, that motorway run — until the day it is not. The filter needs a clean rather than driving once the motor has gone into limp mode.

A clogged DPF cleaned across Tyle, Carmarthenshire

Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Tyle

Most drivers do not expect this detail: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF even now fitted to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a few hours.

Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That means a check first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and connected parts.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are loosened after that, by a cleaning solution fed through the access port on that car, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on severely clogged filters.

A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Tyle; if not, statically where the vehicle stands, with the running data verified after.

A second check confirms the change, puts out the warning light and lists anything still open. Both sets of figures are emailed, so you have the before and after figures recorded.

Where a clean is not the solution

One thing is what cleaning cures — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
  • the EGR valve stuck open
  • a problem in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration running at all
  • oil passing through the filter from a worn turbo

The first check is there for exactly that. Where one of those is the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.

A couple more worth noting. Having the filter hollowed out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a functioning DPF fails its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleaned in place and put back into use.

What DPF cleaning costs around Tyle

A call-out charge holds whatever the outcome, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice offered. Cleaning itself starts from £299.

Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We agree it on the phone, once the car and its likely needs are clear. The motor changes it, and so does the address — Tyle, Cwmifor, or anywhere farther out in the SA postcode area.

Cleaning that will not help is not a clean you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened.

If the light comes back inside that window, an engineer travels back out to Tyle — the clean comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.

Amazing service really professional on the phone and great guy that came out very happy with the work done. Using my van for a dog walking business you gave me confidence that work carried out in a professional Prompt and friendly way. Thank you.

From start to finish the company was great. Would definitely recommend if you are having DPF problems as they will get it sorted in a very quick manner.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we take in around Tyle

Private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — the one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.

Tyle is hardly ever a special trip: technicians are along Dolau Tywi week in week out, and the same run picks up Cwmifor, Ashfield and the places out past Manordeilo. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out through Carmarthenshire is even so worth a phone call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Tyle itself

Tyle is a small locality in Carmarthenshire, situated on the banks of a river at an elevation of around 35 metres. Tyle lies near the communities of Manordeilo, Bethlehem, and Cwmifor, and is approximately 20 miles from Swansea. Tyle has a population of around 337 people, predominantly living in detached houses. Tyle is located in a rural area, with the nearest major city being Swansea to the south.

What Tyle drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
Sometimes, if you catch it early and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to L J Bailey and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.
The visit lasts how long?
Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is heavily loaded.
What does it cost in Tyle?
The call-out charge pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we price on the phone.
Is it essential for me to be present?
The motor wants a space for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Choosing to be there is welcome: the regeneration then runs out on the move, monitored.
Coming to Tyle — how soon?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the SA area.
Does the filter come away from the vehicle?
Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it stands. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
Suppose the light returns?
An engineer comes back out to Tyle — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
