Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Tulloch, Highland

The car remains in place — mobile DPF cleaning comes to it. An engineer arrives at your place across Tulloch, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.

You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone leaves, the clean opening from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.

The light is on already and the car is short of power — that is how we normally meet people, and precisely what this page is about.

DPF light on? What happens next

First thing: it is not automatically the unit. A number of faults put the very same light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit opens with a check rather than with treatment.

Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.

  • A long even run may yet do it, provided the light is amber and the car goes normally. Costs zero, so have a go at that before calling.
  • That window has shut once the motor has fallen into limp mode. A drive will not help now.
  • Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it looked at.

The car has been warning you already

The light is last news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have normally been mounting for some time:

  • going uphill, the power falls off
  • an engine whose revs will not climb as before
  • the fuel consumption is poorer
  • stop/start quietly packing in
  • the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

None of that is evidence alone. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.

Why diesel particulate filters block around Tulloch

Being an area, Tulloch throws up just the driving a DPF manages worst. A regeneration needs time and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to the local primary school, not on A86 at the morning rush, not on five minutes to the local shops, and not on the run to the nearest station. Unburnt soot that should clear banks up instead.

The M9 sits over 50 miles from Tulloch, Inverness under 50 miles away, and unless something pulls you out that way often, entire weeks go by without the long unbroken run that empties a filter. Geography does not help.

Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration

It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode means. With pulling power limited and the revs held, the regeneration the filter needs will not run at all. That tells, because starting one is just what a long run does.

Sound advice, that motorway run — until the day it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that line, and the filter wants treatment rather than road work.

Call-out DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands in Tulloch

On your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours: the job takes place with the filter still fixed on, which is the detail most people do not anticipate.

First a diagnostic. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected hardware — all of it logged before a thing is touched.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are loosened second, by a solution fed through the entry point on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter. Where the filter is heavily clogged, allow for a second pass.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Tulloch, with you there, or it goes where the motor stands and the running data is read after.

Both sets of figures go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second diagnostic is what proves the change, resets the light and lists whatever is still showing.

The faults a DPF clean cannot cure

Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • the wrong signal from a temperature sensor
  • EGR valves that jam open
  • an AdBlue system fault
  • injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration completing at all
  • oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo

Finding that out is the first scan's purpose. If it turns out to be one of those, you are told before any work gets going rather than after you have paid for it.

A couple more worth knowing. Having the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your original filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.

What DPF cleaning costs in Tulloch

Cleaning starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

Once we know what you run, and about what the filter will want, the number gets settled on the phone. A single price for every job would not be straight. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you run: Tulloch itself, Fersit next door, or otherwise out within the PH postcode area.

Where the diagnostic says cleaning will not do it, you are not charged for cleaning. The call-out charge nonetheless stands, because the visit, the check and the advice have taken place.

A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Tulloch if the light reappears inside the window.

Where we reach near Tulloch, and what we clean

Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one call-out service holds, and the filter never quits it.

Technicians are along A86 most weeks, so Tulloch is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run picks up Fersit, Achluachrach and the places out past Roybridge. It is the calendar, not the distance, that settles whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so ring still from farther out across Highland.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning in Tulloch

Does a long run sort it?
Sometimes, if you get it in time and the car has not dropped into limp mode. It takes a sustained run at motorway speed, not ten minutes flat to the local shops and back.
Does the visit run long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
Cost around Tulloch — what is it?
Opening from £299, with a charge for the call-out that covers the check and advice on what to do next. Quoting is done by phone, since what you run and where you sit both move the figure.
Must I be around in person?
No. The car needs somewhere to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then is done out on the open road, monitored.
How soon can someone travel to Tulloch?
That depends on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the PH area.
Does the filter come off the car?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is done in place. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
And if the light comes back?
Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Tulloch.
