Last news, the light. The symptoms generally build for a while before it appears:
- less power, especially going uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- consumption that is worse than before
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
That is not conclusive on its own. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
