Mobile DPF Cleaning across Trunch, Norfolk
The vehicle stays where it is — on-site DPF cleaning travels to it. A technician arrives at your place across Trunch, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the price is settled by the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is already on and the motor is short of power — that is how we generally come across people, and roughly what this page is about.
The DPF light is on. What then?
The filter is not necessarily what is wrong, and that goes first. Treatment is not where a visit begins. A scan is — plenty of faults register as the same light.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- Amber light, car even now driving normally — a long even run can still clear it alone. Costs nothing at all, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- Once the car is in limp mode, motoring will not touch it. The window has gone.
- Stop booking long drives and get it checked if the car reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
Before the light, what the motor was telling you
Late news, the light. The symptoms usually grow for some time before it shows:
- less power, especially climbing uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- fuel use turning worse
- stop/start silently giving up
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box
None of that is evidence on its own. The light beside them suggests a blocked filter.
The cause diesel particulate filters block around Trunch
For a DPF, the least kind driving is the sort you find in a coastal village such as Trunch. Run through an ordinary week: Mundesley Junior School and back, Chapel Road at a standstill before nine, a quick trip to Tesco Express, a dash to Gunton. Not much there goes on long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. What should burn away remains.
The M11 lies over 50 miles from Trunch, Norwich under 25 miles off, and unless something takes you out that way regularly, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that empties a unit. Geography does not oblige.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands right up to a point. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are past that point, and the filter wants treatment rather than driving.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Trunch
Most people do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF even now fitted to the vehicle — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can wait for a couple of hours.
A scan comes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and related components, so other faults are ruled out before anything is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are freed second, by a cleaning fluid put through the access port on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on severely clogged filters.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Trunch if you are present, or a static regeneration where the motor sits, with the real-time data read afterwards.
Then a second check, proving the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still outstanding. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.
Where a clean is not the fix
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not touch:
- a pressure or temperature sensor showing a restriction that is not there
- an EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system fault
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
- turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter
Which is why the diagnostic happens first. If one of those proves the fault, you learn of it up front rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.
Gutting the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the term people search for, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Trunch
A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
The figure is agreed by the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be truthful. What you drive and where you are both change it: Trunch itself, over at Gimingham, or otherwise out within the NR postcode area.
Treatment that will not work is not a clean you pay for, and the scan is what says so. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the check and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Trunch if the light reappears inside the period.
Brilliant company! Highly recommend! came out to us next day! Paid an upfront fee over the phone which was reasonable and they didn't even charge us for the outstanding balance due to a damage DPF. Such lovely people, honest, reliable, trustworthy professional company would definitely use/recommend. Thanks again Guys.
Job was carried out on time as requested. After completion I took the truck for a drive and within 1 mile the vehicle went into limp mode. I rang Attila who reattended within the hour reset everything and so far its been fine.
Happy with the operative it came and worked on more van the van run lovely for 3 days and then the engine light come back on again and it went back into restrictive so I need to get in touch to with the company to see where we go.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near Trunch
The filter is done in place on all of them: private cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Week in week out there is by then someone on Chapel Road, so Trunch seldom means a journey of its own, and Gimingham, Old Hall Street and the places past Knapton come with it. Coverage is UK-wide, so further out around Norfolk is still worth a call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Questions Trunch drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run clear it?
- Early enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a steady spell, rather than a quick trip to Tesco Express.
- Does the visit run long?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes take a second pass, which adds to it.
- How much does it run to in Trunch?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Pricing is done by phone, since what you run and where you live both shift the figure.
- Is it needed for me to be there?
- No. The car wants somewhere to wait for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Come along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a supervised drive.
- When can someone come to Trunch?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 what is available across the NR area.
- Does the filter come off the vehicle?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it stands. We do not lift filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- The light reappears — then what?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Trunch.
