Mobile DPF Cleaning for True Street, Devon
On-site DPF cleaning comes to the vehicle. The fitter arrives at your door over in True Street and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated still on the motor, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Budget for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled by the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is already on and the motor is down on power — that is how we normally find people, and precisely what this page covers.
Your DPF light is lit — what next?
It might not be the filter at all. That is the opening thing. That light can come from several faults, not merely one, so the visit begins with a check and not with cleaning.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then counts.
- Vehicle even now driving normally on an amber light — try a long constant run first. It costs nothing at all and often shifts the filter without help.
- Once the car is in limp mode, driving will not shift it. The window has gone.
- Get it seen to rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
The car has been showing you already
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been slipping for weeks. It is belated news:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- fuel economy turning worse
- silently, the stop/start bows out
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there
Alone, none of that is conclusive. The light with them indicates a blocked filter.
What blocks diesel particulate filters round True Street
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the type you get around a rural hamlet such as True Street. A regeneration wants long enough and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Berry Pomeroy Parochial CofE Primary School, not on Weston Lane at half past eight, not on a few minutes to Morrisons, and not on the dash to Totnes. Soot that should burn away banks up instead.
Save when you have a routine cause to drive out to the M5, under 25 miles from True Street, or over to Exeter under 25 miles away, weeks slip past without a sustained drive. Geography is unhelpful.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode stops it
Limp mode is the motor looking after itself. With power capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter requires can never run at all. That tells, because starting one is just what a long run does.
Good advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter requires treatment.
The car stays where it is for mobile DPF cleaning in True Street
Most people do not see coming this bit: the filter stays put. The job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the vehicle — on your drive, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can wait for a while.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a review of sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is started while another fault is still open.
A cleaning solution after that goes in through the access port on that motor, opening out inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Heavily loaded filters sometimes require a second pass.
What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. Come with the car and it becomes a monitored drive out of True Street. Drop it and the regeneration goes statically, with running data checked once it is done.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, putting out the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both sets of figures are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
What a DPF clean will not fix
One thing is what a clean answers — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:
- a pressure sensor showing a block that is not there
- a failed EGR valve
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration starting whatsoever
- turbo problems, with oil getting into the filter
Which is why the scan happens first. When one of those proves the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has left already.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into work.
DPF cleaning charges across True Street
Each visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, carrying out the check and offering the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
No single flat rate would be honest, so the price is settled on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you run: True Street itself, Berry Pomeroy nearby, or otherwise out across the TQ postcode area.
If the diagnostic writes treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless stands.
The work comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to True Street if the light comes back inside that window.
Big thank you to the mechanic who came out to clean my DPF. He was extremely knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, and provided an amazing customer service experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Igor was very professional in both his manner and how he successfully carried out the treatment-I've got my Car back!!
Really helpful on the phone call, didn't have to wait long for an appointment with the engineer, then engineer was great.
What we clean, and how far we go around True Street
The filter is done where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
True Street is rarely a special trip: engineers are along Weston Lane nearly every week, and the same run takes in Berry Pomeroy, Littlehempston and the places out past Totnes. Call anyway from farther out across Devon. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the date you are given depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.

Things True Street drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- Quickly enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Five minutes to Morrisons and back will not manage it; motorway speed, kept for some time, will.
- How long does the visit last?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is severely loaded.
- What does it run to around True Street?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why quoting is done by phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- The vehicle wants a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Come along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a watched drive.
- Can someone come to True Street soon?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the TQ area.
- The filter — does it leave the motor?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it sits. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- And if the light reappears?
- An engineer heads back out to True Street — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
