Symptoms have normally been mounting for a while before the light even appears. Last news, in other words:
- power falling off, above all pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- worse fuel use
- the stop/start quietly bowing out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
By itself, none of that is proof. The light with them indicates a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters clog near Trewint
For a DPF, the poorest driving is the sort you meet in a rural hamlet such as Trewint.
