The light is last news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have normally been building for a while:
- power falling off, particularly going uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they used to
- fuel use getting worse
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
That is not evidence by itself. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Trevelmond
