Treorchy, Rhondda Cynon Taf: Mobile DPF Cleaning

Sorting the DPF takes place at the car, not at a body shop. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter comes to your place over in Treorchy, cleans the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

Allow for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone sets off.

If the light is on already and the car is down on power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers arrive here.

The DPF light is on. What next?

It may not be the unit in the end. That is the main thing. A scan happens before the work, because that same dashboard light has a number of possible faults behind it.

It tells what you manage with the vehicle between now and the visit.

  • Amber light, car yet driving normally — a long even run can still shift it alone. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you ring anything.
  • That window has closed once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
  • Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under acceleration — stop booking long drives and get it seen to.

What the vehicle has been showing you

The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have generally been mounting for some time:

  • pulling uphill, the power falls off
  • revs that will not pull the way they once did
  • worse fuel consumption
  • silently, the stop/start gives up
  • a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under acceleration

Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. With the light, it is a fair bet the filter is loaded.

The explanation diesel particulate filters clog near Treorchy

Treorchy is a riverside town, and the driving that comes with one is the poorest sort for a DPF. Think about a normal week: the local primary school and home, Bute Street at a crawl before nine, a quick trip to Spar, a hop to Ynyswen. Nothing there goes on long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. What should clear stays behind.

The M4 sits under 10 miles from Treorchy, Swansea under 25 miles out, and unless something takes you out that way routinely, entire weeks pass without the long steady run that scours a DPF. Geography does not help.

DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode kills it

What limp mode means is the car protecting itself. With power held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter wants can never complete at all. That tells, because triggering one is precisely what a long run does.

Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds right up to a point. In limp mode you are beyond that point: cleaning is what will help, not more driving.

A blocked DPF treated in Treorchy, Rhondda Cynon Taf

The vehicle stays where it is for mobile DPF cleaning across Treorchy

On your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the car can sit for a few hours: the job takes place with the filter even now fixed on, which is the bit most drivers do not anticipate.

The ECU is interrogated first, showing soot load by proportion and by mass, along with a check of sensors, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still possible.

Then the treatment. A cleaning solution is injected through the access point on that vehicle and spreads inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. A second pass is sometimes required on severely loaded filters.

Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Treorchy if you are there, or a static regeneration where the car sits, with the real-time data read once done.

Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second scan is what verifies the change, puts out the light and notes whatever is still open.

The problems a DPF clean cannot fix

Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:

  • sensors, pressure or temperature, flagging a blockage that is not real
  • the EGR valve held open
  • the AdBlue system playing up
  • glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration starting at all
  • a turbo putting oil through the filter

That is what the first scan is for. You are told before any work starts, not after you have handed over, where it turns out to be one of those.

DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is replaced: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it gutted a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.

DPF cleaning charges around Treorchy

Cleaning starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

Once we know what you drive, and about what the filter will need, the price gets agreed by phone. A single price for everyone would not be straight. A pair of things change it: what you own, and where you are — Treorchy itself, over at Treherbert, or farther out in the CF postcode area.

Where the check says treatment will not help, you are not billed for cleaning. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place.

A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Treorchy if the light comes back inside the period.

What we clean, and how far we travel round Treorchy

Cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural machinery — the one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than carried anywhere.

The same trip that keeps engineers on Bute Street most weeks covers Treorchy, Treherbert, Pentre and the villages beyond Maerdy. Even further out through Rhondda Cynon Taf is nonetheless worth ringing about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that decides between this day and the next.

Questions Treorchy drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run clear it?
It might, provided you catch it early and limp mode has not begun. Fifteen minutes to Spar and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for some time, will.
Broadly how long does it take?
It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can need a second clean, which adds to that.
What does it come to across Treorchy?
The call-out charge covers the visit, the check and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
Do I have to be there?
The motor wants a space for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be run as a monitored drive instead.
When can someone come to Treorchy?
That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the CF area has free.
Will the filter be lifted off?
Done where it is, on this service, so no. We do not get filters off or fit them back on, either way.
The light comes back — then what?
An engineer heads back out to Treorchy — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
