Mobile DPF Cleaning across Treal and Cornwall
Treating the DPF is done at the motor, not at a workshop. No garage, no filter going anywhere. A technician drives out to your address across Treal, cleans the diesel particulate filter as it sits, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
Reckon on the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone sets off.
Most owners find us with the light showing, and the vehicle down on power. That is the situation this page is written for.
The DPF light is on. What then?
The filter is not always what is to blame, and that comes first. That light can come from several faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a check and not with cleaning.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, motor driving as normal, just one constant run, no outlay.
- Motor already dropped into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under acceleration, is the stage to stop arranging long drives and call.
What the motor has been warning you
Symptoms have generally been building for a while before the light even appears. Last news, in other words:
- tailing off on power, especially uphill
- an engine whose revs will not rise as they should
- the fuel economy is down
- the stop/start silently bowing out
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
On its own, none of that is conclusive. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
What chokes diesel particulate filters around Treal
Treal is a rural hamlet, and the driving that belongs to one is the poorest sort for a DPF. None of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Grade-Ruan CofE Primary School, Higher Moor standing at half past eight, a few minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Penmere. Instead of burning off, the unburnt soot builds up.
Neither is far from Treal: over 50 miles to the M5, under 25 miles to Truro. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would empty a filter never happens.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
The vehicle is defending itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. Power is limited, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter wants can not complete — which is the real difficulty, because a long drive works by starting that regeneration.
So the standard advice to run it up the motorway is good advice, up until it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that stage: treatment is what will help, not more driving.
The vehicle stays put for mobile DPF cleaning in Treal
Most drivers do not anticipate this detail: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF yet bolted to the motor — on your front, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours.
First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a figure, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the connected components — all of it logged before anything is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are freed second, by a solution fed through the access port on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to take doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has loosened. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Treal, with you along, or it runs where the vehicle waits and the real-time data is read afterwards.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still outstanding written down. Both sets of figures arrive with you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
A clean cures one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature sensor
- an EGR valve jammed open
- AdBlue system faults
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting whatsoever
- turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter
Which is why the check goes first. You are let know before all work starts, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
A couple more worth knowing. Getting the filter hollowed out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleared in place and put back into use.
DPF cleaning costs in Treal
The treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
The figure is fixed by the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be honest. The car changes it, and so does the address — Treal, Poltesco, or anywhere further out in the TR postcode area.
Where the scan says a clean will not work, you are not asked to pay for treatment. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless holds.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Treal if the light reappears inside the window.
Excellent service today, thanks. I was able to track my engineer, Zoltan, before he arrived at the job. He was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. He knew exactly what needed to be done and made the whole process easy. Would definitely recommend Zoltan and DPF fixer, thanks.
Honestly couldn't of chose a better place the guy come out done it within a hour and it's working perfectly no issues.
Andras was excellent. He arrived on schedule, was knowledgeable, professional and courteous and took care of our car. So far the clean seems to have worked and we hope it continues to so we can avoid the hugely expensive DPF replacement.
What we clean, and how far we travel round Treal
Whatever it is — estate, van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same on-site service stands, and the filter never quits it.
Week in week out there is already someone on Higher Moor, so Treal seldom means a special trip, and Poltesco, Ruan Minor and the places past Kuggar come with it. Call anyway from even further out through Cornwall. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the slot you are offered depends on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

What Treal drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- If you spot it in time, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. Five minutes to Co-op Food and back will not be enough; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
- The visit lasts how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- How much does it run to across Treal?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing is done by phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- No. The car needs space to stand for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- Can someone come to Treal soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is available across the TR area.
- Does the filter leave the car?
- It is cleaned where it stands, on the call-out service. Taking a filter off or putting one back on count as anything a job we do whichever way.
- And if the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Treal.
