Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for a while before it appears:
- pulling uphill, the power drops away
- revs that will not rise the way they once did
- the fuel use is worse
- stop/start without a word packing in
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
That is not proof on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
