Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Townhead, Cumbria
Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the car. An engineer comes at your place in Townhead, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
You'll have a figure by phone before anyone leaves, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
Most owners find us with the light showing, and the vehicle low on power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.
DPF light on? What comes next
First thing: it is not necessarily the unit. That light can follow several faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a check and not with treatment.
It matters what you manage with the motor between now and the visit.
- Vehicle yet driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long constant run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly sorts the filter without help.
- Vehicle already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not reach it now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
Signs the vehicle has been showing you
By the time the light arrives, things have usually been deteriorating for a while. It is last news:
- less power, above all going uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb like they did
- worse fuel economy
- a stop/start that has quietly bowed out
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
On its own, none of that is evidence. The light alongside them suggests a full filter.
Choked diesel particulate filters around Townhead, and the reason
Townhead is a rural hamlet, and the driving that goes with one is the least kind type for a DPF. A regeneration wants long enough and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Hayton CofE Primary School, not on The Woodlands at half past eight, not on ten minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the hop to Brampton (Cumbria). Instead of clearing, the soot banks up.
Unless you have a routine cause to get out to the M6, under 10 miles from Townhead, or across to Carlisle under 10 miles away, whole weeks pass without a sustained stint. Geography is unhelpful.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
Limp mode is the car defending itself. The entire catch is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is limited.
The usual advice — run it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. The filter wants treatment rather than more driving once the motor has gone into limp mode.
On-site DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands in Townhead
Nothing comes off the motor. That throws people. The DPF remains fixed where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, anywhere it can stand for two hours or so.
The ECU is read first, showing soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.
A cleaning fluid after that goes in through the access point on that vehicle, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to take doing twice.
What the clean has lifted is then driven off by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Townhead if you are there, or a static regeneration where the car sits, with the live data read afterwards.
Both reports come through by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what verifies the change, resets the light and lists whatever is still outstanding.
The faults a DPF clean cannot answer
Treatment fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure sensor reporting a block that is not there
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- an AdBlue system fault
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever runs
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Which is why the check happens first. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before work starts, not after paying a penny.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your filter is cleaned in place and goes back into work.
What DPF cleaning runs to around Townhead
The treatment opens from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.
Once we know what you drive, and roughly what the filter will take, the number gets fixed on the phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. Two separate things shift it: what you drive, and where you are — Townhead itself, out at Hayton, or farther out across the CA postcode area.
A clean that will not help is not a clean you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was carried out and the advice was given.
Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer comes back to Townhead.
Excellent service today, thanks. I was able to track my engineer, Zoltan, before he arrived at the job. He was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. He knew exactly what needed to be done and made the whole process easy. Would definitely recommend Zoltan and DPF fixer, thanks.
Great company, technician came out same day as I reported the issue. Fair price. Liam the technician explained everything, the process and after care to prevent issue happening in future. Highly recommend. Many thanks. Ben.
Zac was very helpful and friendly. Explained the process clearly and solved my issue with engine management light. Would recommend to anyone with dpf issues. 5 star from me!
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach around Townhead
Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one on-site service applies, and the filter never departs it.
Townhead is seldom a special trip: our engineers are working The Woodlands week in week out, and the same run covers Hayton, Fenton and the villages out past How. Phone anyway from further out through Cumbria. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the day you are offered depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.

Things Townhead drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Soon enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Fifteen minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not manage it; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- Does the visit run long?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is heavily blocked.
- In Townhead, what does it run to?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
- Must I be around in person?
- You do not need to stand with it — the motor simply needs space to stand for a couple of hours. Come along if you like, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
- How soon can someone come to Townhead?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the CA area.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- Not on the on-site service — it is done where it stands. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- What if the light returns?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Townhead.
