Topcroft Street, Norfolk: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the vehicle. Your vehicle will not be taken off and the filter will not leave it. A technician comes at your place in Topcroft Street, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and performs a DPF regeneration.
Nobody sets off until the number is agreed on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
Most owners find us with the light showing, and the vehicle short of power. That is the situation this page is meant for.
The DPF light is on. What then?
Not the filter, necessarily. First thing to note. That light can arise from plenty of faults, not just one, so the visit begins with a check and not with cleaning.
It tells what you do with the motor between now and the appointment.
- Amber light, vehicle even now driving fine — a long even run can still sort it on its own. Costs zero, and worth trying before you book anything.
- Vehicle already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
- Get it looked at rather than running it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
The vehicle has been telling you already
By the time the light shows, things have normally been deteriorating for a while. It is last news:
- dropping away on power, above all uphill
- you notice the revs fall short of where they always went
- fuel use getting worse
- silently, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. With the light with them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Clogged diesel particulate filters near Topcroft Street, and the cause
Topcroft Street is a rural village, and the motoring that comes with one is the worst kind for a DPF. The school run to Hempnall Primary School, Rookery Lane at a halt at half eight, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Beccles — not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. What should burn away stays behind.
Save when you have a routine cause to drive out to the M11, over 50 miles from Topcroft Street, or across to Norwich under 15 miles away, entire weeks pass without a long unbroken run. Geography is unhelpful.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode ends it
What limp mode comes down to is the motor defending itself. The real problem is that a sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is limited.
So the common advice to take it up the motorway is sound advice, up until it stops being. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that stage, and the filter wants a clean rather than driving.
Mobile DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands across Topcroft Street
The filter does not budge. That is the part most owners do not anticipate: the job takes place with the DPF yet bolted to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a while.
Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That requires a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts.
Then the treatment. A solution goes in through the access point on that vehicle and spreads inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. A second pass is sometimes needed on badly clogged filters.
A regeneration follows, driving off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Topcroft Street; if not, statically where the car waits, with the live data read after.
Then a second check, confirming the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
Where treatment is not the answer
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not touch:
- pressure sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that stick open
- AdBlue system faults
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration running whatsoever
- turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter
Finding that out is the first check's whole job. Transpiring to be one of them means hearing it before work starts, not after settling up for it.
Two more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter gutted is not a fix — a vehicle without a working DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your own filter is cleared in place and returned into use.
DPF cleaning prices around Topcroft Street
A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. The clean itself starts from £299.
The number is agreed on the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be straight. What you run and where you are both move it: Topcroft Street itself, across at Silver Green, or otherwise out in the NR postcode area.
You are not charged for treatment that the check says will not work. What even so stands is the call-out charge, since the visit happened, the scan was run and the advice was offered.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Topcroft Street.
Really pleased with the service which cleared the DPF block and warning light on dash of my Landrover. Saved me £2500!
Nat arrived from the company on time, was polite and explained what he was doing then just got on with it. Very efficient and well worth every penny. Nat should get a medal. Car is running fine now.
Came to my place of work which helped. Very courteous & friendly engineer. A bit pricey I thought for an hour and half work at £450, but I had to get it done.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel round Topcroft Street
Cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — a single mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than moved anywhere.
Engineers are along Rookery Lane week in week out, so Topcroft Street is seldom a journey of its own, and the same run covers Silver Green, Bedingham Green and the places out past Topcroft. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out through Norfolk is still worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Questions Topcroft Street drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- Quickly enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Five minutes to Co-op Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- How long does the visit last?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is severely clogged.
- What does it come to in Topcroft Street?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both change the figure.
- Have I got to be there?
- The vehicle wants a spot for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.
- How soon can someone come to Topcroft Street?
- That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the NR area has available.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- Done where it sits, on this service, so no. Neither lifting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light reappears?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Topcroft Street.
