Mobile DPF Cleaning across Tomperrow and Cornwall
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. The engineer arrives at your address across Tomperrow and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the car, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Budget for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone leaves.
Most people find us with the light on already, and the car short of power. That is exactly what this page is written for.
Your DPF light is showing — what then?
First thing: it is not automatically the unit. That light can follow several faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a scan and not with a clean.
How the vehicle is run in the meantime counts too.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, vehicle driving fine, just one steady run, no charge.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has now gone.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop arranging long drives and call.
The car has been warning you already
Symptoms have usually been mounting for some time before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- you see the revs never reach where they once went
- the fuel consumption is down
- a stop/start that has silently given up
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
That is not conclusive alone. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.
The cause diesel particulate filters clog near Tomperrow
Being a small village, Tomperrow generates precisely the motoring a DPF copes with least well. A regeneration takes the time and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to Threemilestone School, not on Truro Business Park at half past eight, not on ten minutes to Spar, and not on the run to Truro. Instead of burning off, the soot collects.
Geography does not help either. The M5 is over 50 miles from Tomperrow and Truro is under 5 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks slip past without the long steady run that might empty the filter alone.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode stops it
Limp mode is the motor defending itself. With output capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter wants will not run at all. That counts, because setting off one is exactly what a motorway run does.
The standard advice — run it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. The filter needs treatment rather than road work once the car has slipped into limp mode.
The motor stays in place for mobile DPF cleaning round Tomperrow
Most owners do not expect this detail: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF yet bolted to the car — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a few hours.
The ECU is taken first, reporting soot load by percent and by mass, along with a look over of sensors, glow plugs and related components, so nothing is started while another fault is still possible.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never budge are loosened after that, by a cleaning fluid passed through the access port on that car, which spreads inside the filter. Badly blocked filters sometimes need a second pass.
What the clean has freed is then burned off by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Tomperrow if you are there, or a static regeneration where the motor stands, with the real-time data read once done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still outstanding logged. Both reports arrive with you by email, so the numbers are kept.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Treatment answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, flagging a restriction that is not real
- EGR valves that stick open
- an AdBlue system failure
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration running in the first place
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. You are let know before the work begins, not after you have settled up, where it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no solution. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your existing filter is cleaned in place and goes back into use.
What DPF cleaning runs to around Tomperrow
A call-out charge applies whatever happens, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. Cleaning itself opens from £299.
No flat rate would be honest, so the number is fixed by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you drive: Tomperrow itself, Kerley Downs nearby, or otherwise out within the TR postcode area.
Where the scan says cleaning will not work, you are not billed for treatment. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge nonetheless stands.
If the light reappears inside that period, an engineer heads back out to Tomperrow — the job comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Great company fast efficient and all members of staff I spoke too including the engineer were outstanding really appreciate it and couldn't recommend enough.
Turned up early, was very respectful, helpful, quick and thorough. He explained everything to me, gave me clear instructions on what to do next and advised on car care after the fix. My car is now running like it's brand new!
What a fantastic company to deal with, so professional from start to finish and big credit to Dave. Thank you once again and definitely I gonna use your service in the future.
Where we travel round Tomperrow, and what we clean
The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Most weeks there is already someone on Truro Business Park, so Tomperrow seldom means a special trip, and Kerley Downs, Baldhu and the spots past Threemilestone are on the way. Even further out through Cornwall is even so worth ringing about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that decides between this day and the next.

Questions Tomperrow drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run clear it?
- If you get it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. Fifteen minutes to Spar and back will not manage it; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- Does the visit last long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly loaded filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- The cost across Tomperrow — what is it?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the scan and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. Quoting is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both shift the number.
- Do I have to be there?
- No. The motor needs space to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. The regeneration can be run as a monitored drive if you would sooner come along.
- Travelling to Tomperrow — how soon?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is free across the TR area.
- The filter — does it come away from the car?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. We will not take filters off or put them back on, either way.
- And if the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Tomperrow.
