Mobile DPF Cleaning in Tilsop and Shropshire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we come to the vehicle. The engineer turns up at your address across Tilsop and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleared fitted to the vehicle, a DPF regeneration follows, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone goes, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
The light is on already and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we normally meet people, and roughly what this page deals with.
What to try when the DPF light shows
Not the filter, always. First thing to say. A number of faults put the very same light on the very same panel, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with a clean.
The use you do in the meantime tells. That is the second thing.
- A long even run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle drives fine. Costs nothing at all, so try that before ringing.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then closed.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop arranging long drives and get it checked.
What the vehicle has been telling you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for some time before it arrives:
- less power, especially climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- worse fuel use
- the stop/start quietly packing in
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not evidence. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair guess.
What blocks diesel particulate filters near Tilsop
For a DPF, the worst driving is the sort you meet around a small village such as Tilsop. The school run to Clee Hill Community Academy, Clee Hill Road at a halt at half eight, ten minutes to Tesco, the hop to Ludlow — not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. The soot that should burn off banks up instead.
Geography does not oblige either. The M5 is under 25 miles from Tilsop and Worcester is under 25 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way routinely, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that would scour the filter alone.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
What limp mode amounts to is the car protecting itself. Power is held down, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter needs can not run — which is the entire difficulty, because a proper drive works by starting that regeneration.
Good advice, that motorway run — until the day it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are the far side of that line, and the filter wants treatment rather than road work.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is treated in Tilsop
Most owners do not expect this part: the filter stays put. The job happens with the DPF still bolted to the car — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the car can wait for a while.
Nothing is cleaned until other faults are eliminated. That requires a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and related parts.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning fluid is injected through the access point on that car and expands inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. Heavily blocked filters sometimes take a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has lifted. Come with the vehicle and it becomes a monitored drive out of Tilsop. Drop it and the regeneration goes statically, with live data verified once it is done.
A second check proves the change, resets the warning light and lists anything still outstanding. Both reports are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, reporting a block that is not real
- an EGR valve held open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- a regeneration that hardly ever starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
That is what the first scan is for. Proving to be one of them means learning it before the work starts, not after paying for it.
Two things more worth noting. Getting the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a functioning DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleaned in place and put back into use.
Figures for DPF cleaning across Tilsop
Each visit carries a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, carrying out the diagnostic and passing on the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
The figure is settled on the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. What you own and where you are both move it: Tilsop itself, over at Coreley, or otherwise out across the SY postcode area.
Treatment that will not work is not treatment you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.
The job includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Tilsop if the light reappears inside that time.
What fantastic service! Lady I spoke to in the office was friendly and very helpful and the technician (Zultan) who came out to look at my car couldn't be faulted. Friendly, helpful & professional - my problem resolved. Thank you.
Really helpful, told me why the filter had blocked in the first place and managed to clean it out fully.
First class service from initial contact to last. Kieran, the engineer sent, was so knowledgeable and detailed in his explanations and paperwork. Very impressive.
Where we get to around Tilsop, and what we clean
The filter is done on the vehicle on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Our engineers are along Clee Hill Road nearly every week, so Tilsop is hardly ever a detour, and the same run picks up Coreley, Brookrow and the villages out past Knowle. It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone even from farther out across Shropshire.

Things Tilsop drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Quickly enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes to Tesco and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can take a second clean, which adds to that.
- How much does it cost across Tilsop?
- Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. Pricing is done by phone, since what you drive and where you sit both change the figure.
- Is it needed for me to be around?
- The motor needs a spot for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the open road, monitored.
- When can someone travel to Tilsop?
- That hangs on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is open across the SY area.
- Does the filter leave the car?
- It is cleaned where it sits, on the mobile service. We will not lift filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- And if the light comes back?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Tilsop.
