Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Thorpe, West Yorkshire

Cleaning the DPF happens at the motor, not at a workshop. The fitter turns up at your place over in Thorpe and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the vehicle, a DPF regeneration follows, and you end up with the filter you came with.

The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the price is agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.

Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the vehicle short of power. That is exactly what this page is written for.

DPF light on? What comes next

First thing: it is not automatically the filter. Several faults put the same light on the same panel, which is why a visit begins with a check rather than with cleaning.

Second thing: how you drive it between now and then matters.

  • A long constant run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the car goes fine. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before booking.
  • A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has already closed.
  • Stop booking long drives and get it looked at if the cabin smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.

The vehicle has been showing you already

Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to grow for weeks before it shows:

  • less power, above all climbing uphill
  • you see the revs never reach where they always went
  • economy that is worse than it was
  • stop/start without a word giving up
  • smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in there

By itself, none of that is evidence. The light beside them points at a loaded filter.

The reason diesel particulate filters block round Thorpe

Thorpe is a residential suburb, and the day-to-day driving that goes with one is the poorest type for a DPF. Nothing of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Thorpe Primary, Woodfield Close barely moving at half past eight, ten minutes to Aldi, the dash to Apperley Bridge. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot builds up.

Neither is far from Thorpe: under 5 miles to the M606, under 5 miles to Bradford. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the drive that would scour a filter simply never happens.

The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer run

The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. With power capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter requires cannot run at all. That counts, because triggering one is exactly what a long run does.

Good advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that point, and the filter needs treatment rather than driving.

Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is treated across Thorpe

Most people do not see coming this bit: the filter remains. The job happens with the DPF even now bolted to the car — on your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can sit for a few hours.

The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a review of sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected parts, so nothing is started while another fault is still possible.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never budge are loosened after that, by a cleaning fluid fed through the entry point on that motor, which expands inside the filter. Heavily blocked filters sometimes require a second pass.

What the clean has freed is then cleared by a regeneration. Ride along with the vehicle and it turns into a monitored drive out of Thorpe. Leave it and the regeneration is done statically, with live data read once it is done.

Finally the check runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still showing logged. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

One thing is what a clean cures — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • a temperature or pressure sensor showing a restriction that is not there
  • EGR valves that hang open
  • AdBlue system failures
  • injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting in the first place
  • a turbo putting oil through the filter

Which is why the check comes first. You are told before all work starts, not after you have settled up, should it turns out to be one of those.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into work.

DPF cleaning prices around Thorpe

Treatment begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

Once we have what you own, and roughly what the filter will take, the price gets settled over phone. A single price for all would not be honest. A pair of things shift it: what you drive, and where you are — Thorpe itself, out at Fourlands, or otherwise out in the BD postcode area.

You are not charged for cleaning that the diagnostic says will not help. What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was carried out and the advice was given.

Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer comes back to Thorpe.

Really helpful on the phone call, didn't have to wait long for an appointment with the engineer, then engineer was great.

The engineer Andrea's was very efficient. Nothing was a problem. I don't think my van has driven so well since I have had it. Very pleased. Thank you.

Vehicles we clean, and where we reach around Thorpe

The filter is done in place on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.

Thorpe is seldom a special trip: engineers are out on Woodfield Close nearly every week, and the same run covers Fourlands, Simpson Green and the spots out past Calverley. Phone anyway from even further out through West Yorkshire. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the date you get depends on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

Thorpe itself

Thorpe is a suburban area in West Yorkshire, situated on the riverside at an elevation of around 130 metres, with semi-detached housing being the predominant type of accommodation. Thorpe lies close to the city of Bradford, approximately 3.2 miles away, and is near other local places such as Idle, Fourlands, and Simpson Green. Thorpe has a population of around 7870 residents and is located about 174.2 miles north of London.

Questions Thorpe drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
Early enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It wants a steady run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Aldi and back.
Broadly how long does it take?
Expect typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
Across Thorpe, what does it cost?
A clean starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both move the price.
Is it needed for me to be present?
No. The motor requires space to sit for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Come along if you like, and the regeneration becomes a watched drive.
How soon can someone travel to Thorpe?
That depends on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is available across the BD area.
Does the filter leave the motor?
On the call-out service, no: the filter is done in place. Neither lifting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
The light comes back — then what?
An engineer heads back out to Thorpe — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
