Mobile DPF Cleaning around The Towans and Cornwall
Mobile DPF cleaning goes to the motor. The fitter turns up at your place over in The Towans and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned still on the car, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you keep the filter you started with.
Allow for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is showing and the car is short of power — that is how we generally find people, and what this page covers.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the DPF, necessarily. Opening thing to say. A clean is not where a visit begins. A check is — plenty of faults show up as the same signal.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.
- Amber light, vehicle yet driving as normal — a long steady run can yet sort it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you book anything.
- Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
Before the light, what the motor was warning you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to mount for a while before it appears:
- going uphill, the power tails off
- an engine whose revs will not rise like they did
- fuel consumption getting worse
- stop/start quietly packing in
- the car reeking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
That is not conclusive on its own. With the light, it is a fair bet the filter is full.
What chokes diesel particulate filters near The Towans
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the kind you meet around a coastal village such as The Towans. None of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Bodriggy Academy, Riviere Towans crawling at the morning rush, ten minutes to Asda, the hop to Hayle. Instead of clearing, the soot collects.
Except when you have a standing need to get out to the M5, over 50 miles from The Towans, or out to Truro under 25 miles away, entire weeks go by without a long steady stint. Geography is against you.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode prevents: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration available.
Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it works up to a point. The far side of that line — limp mode — driving will not manage it, and the filter needs cleaning.
The vehicle stays where it is for mobile DPF cleaning across The Towans
On your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a while: the job takes place with the filter yet fixed on, which is the part most owners do not expect.
A scan goes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and related parts, so other faults are ruled out before anything is cleaned.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own entry point, spreading inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration cannot. Heavily loaded filters sometimes require a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of The Towans; if not, on the spot where the motor waits, with the running data read afterwards.
Then a second check, verifying the change, clearing the warning light and listing anything still outstanding. Both reports are emailed over, so the before and after figures are on record.
The failures a DPF clean cannot cure
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing treatment answers. It will not help:
- sensors, pressure, showing a blockage that is not real
- the EGR valve stuck open
- AdBlue system failures
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting at all
- turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. If one of those is the fault, you find out about it at the outset rather than once the money has gone for good.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no solution. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your filter is treated in place and goes back into service.
Costs for DPF cleaning in The Towans
The cleaning begins from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
Once we have what you run, and roughly what the filter will need, the price gets fixed by phone. A single price for all would not be honest. What you run and where you are both move it: The Towans itself, out at Phillack, or farther out across the TR postcode area.
Cleaning that will not work is not treatment you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to The Towans if the light comes back inside the time.
I waited a month just to see, but now I'm so happy with their work, Wonderful company, easy booking, they really do their work impeccably and are reasonably flexible. They did work on my civic, ash values went from 66grams to 0.
On time. Very professional. Answered all my questions. Car running perfect when finished. The technician was a credit to the company.
The tech attended on site in good time and sorted the DPF out on our 4 x 4 thank you! Northgate.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to around The Towans
Whatever it is — estate, van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the same on-site service holds, and the filter never quits it.
Technicians are along Riviere Towans week in week out, so The Towans is hardly ever a journey of its own, and the same run covers Phillack, Foundry and the places out past Hayle. Even further out around Cornwall is even so worth a call — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that settles between one day and the next.

Common questions on DPF cleaning in The Towans
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early enough and the motor has not dropped into limp mode. That calls for motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a quick trip to Asda.
- The visit takes how long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes take a second pass, which adds to it.
- The cost in The Towans — what is it?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the scan and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the car simply wants space to sit for a couple of hours. Preferring to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- Coming to The Towans — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is available across the TR area.
- Will the filter be taken off?
- Treated where it sits, on this service, so no. Getting a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything a job we do whichever way.
- Suppose the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer returning to The Towans.
