Mobile DPF Cleaning serving The Slade, Berkshire
On-site DPF cleaning travels to the car. Your car will not be taken away and the filter does not leave it. A technician arrives at your door across The Slade, cleans the diesel particulate filter on the motor and performs a DPF regeneration.
You'll have a price by phone before anyone leaves, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
If the light is on already and the car is down on power, this page is yours. That is how most drivers end up here.
The DPF light is on. What then?
The DPF is not necessarily what is to blame, and that goes first. Treatment is not where a visit starts. A check is — plenty of faults register as the same signal.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Amber light, vehicle still driving fine — a long even run can yet shift it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you book anything.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already gone.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
Signs the car has been giving you
Symptoms have normally been mounting for a while before the light so much as shows. Belated news, in other words:
- power falling off, above all pulling uphill
- you find the revs never reach where they once went
- the fuel economy is down
- the stop/start silently giving up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. The light alongside them indicates a blocked filter.
What blocks diesel particulate filters round The Slade
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the kind you find across a rural hamlet such as The Slade. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Bucklebury C.E. Primary School, Holly Lane standing at half past eight, ten minutes to The Co-operative Food, the run to Thatcham. Unburnt soot that should clear builds up instead.
Except when you have a standing need to drive out to the M4, under 3 miles from The Slade, or across to Oxford under 25 miles away, whole weeks go by without a sustained run. Geography is no help.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode is. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode rules out: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
So the common advice to take it up the motorway is sensible advice, up until it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are the far side of that stage, and the filter requires a clean rather than more driving.
DPF cleaning at the car in The Slade
Most people do not expect this part: the filter stays put. The job takes place with the DPF even now bolted to the vehicle — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a while.
First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it taken before a thing is cleaned.
A solution next goes in through the entry point on that vehicle, opening out inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. Severely loaded filters sometimes require a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of The Slade; if not, statically where the car sits, with the real-time data checked once done.
Both read-outs are sent by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what confirms the change, resets the light and notes whatever is still open.
Where treatment is not the solution
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment answers. It will not touch:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, reporting a restriction that is not real
- an EGR valve held open
- the AdBlue system playing up
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration starting at all
- turbo trouble, with oil entering the filter
Which is why the scan comes first. You are told before any work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people search for, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it gutted a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth knowing.
The cost of DPF cleaning around The Slade
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
Publishing a flat rate would not be straight. We fix it by phone, once the car and its likely needs are clear. The place you are tells as much as what you run: The Slade itself, Hopgoods Green next door, or otherwise out across the RG postcode area.
Where the check says a clean will not help, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. You even so pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.
The job includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to The Slade if the light returns inside that time.
The engineer was very happy and explained the whole process in plain English and performed the dpf clean expertly and efficiently would recommend them to anyone.
The engineer did a fantastic job friendly and really knew his stuff he went that extra mile to make sure my motor was running smoothly before he left.
Nic was an absolute legend, talkative, kind & walked through the whole process. You can see the process happen and then feel the difference after. Thank you Nic!
What we clean, and how far we go around The Slade
Whatever it is — car, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one call-out service stands, and the filter never departs it.
Nearly every week there is usually someone on Holly Lane, so The Slade hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Hopgoods Green, Westrop Green and the villages past Upper Bucklebury are on the way. Phone anyway from farther out through Berkshire. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the slot you are offered comes down to the diary rather than how far away you are.

Things The Slade drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- Sometimes, if you get it early and the motor has not fallen into limp mode. That calls for motorway speed for a sustained spell, rather than a short trip to The Co-operative Food.
- About how long does it take?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can take a second clean, which lengthens that.
- Price across The Slade — what is it?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for the call-out that pays for the scan and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing is done by phone.
- Do I have to be present?
- The vehicle requires a space for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Come along if you prefer, and the regeneration becomes a monitored drive.
- How soon can someone come to The Slade?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the RG area has open.
- The filter — does it come off the vehicle?
- Treated where it stands, on this service, so no. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- An engineer comes back out to The Slade — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
