Mobile DPF Cleaning across The Quarter and Kent
The motor remains put — call-out DPF cleaning travels to it. The engineer turns up at your address in The Quarter and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated still on the car, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, agreed on the phone before anyone travels.
Most people find us with the light already on, and the vehicle short of power. That is exactly what this page is aimed at.
Your DPF light is showing — what now?
Not the filter, necessarily. First thing to note. Several faults put the very same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- Amber light, car still driving as normal — a long even run can still shift it alone. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you book anything.
- Vehicle already fallen into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under acceleration — stop arranging long drives and get it looked at.
What the motor has been showing you
Symptoms have normally been mounting for some time before the light so much as arrives. Belated news, in other words:
- power dropping away, above all pulling uphill
- you see the revs stop short of where they used to go
- fuel use getting worse
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under acceleration
That is not conclusive on its own. The light beside them points at a full filter.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog near The Quarter
For a DPF, the worst use is the sort you meet around a residential suburb such as The Quarter. Run through a normal week: Staplehurst School and home again, Pinnock Lane at a halt before nine, a quick trip to Spar, a dash to Staplehurst. None of it there runs long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. The soot load collects rather than clearing.
Neither is a long way from The Quarter: under 10 miles to the M20, under 25 miles to Canterbury. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter never happens.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. Power is capped, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter needs can not complete — which is the real difficulty, because a long drive works by triggering that regeneration.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds right up to a limit. Past that stage — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter wants cleaning.
On-site DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands across The Quarter
Nothing leaves the motor. That throws people. The DPF sits bolted where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, wherever it can stand for a few hours.
Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That means a check first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related hardware.
Next comes the clean itself: solution in through the motor's own access point, expanding inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration never can. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. Ride along with the motor and it turns into a monitored drive out of The Quarter. Park it and the regeneration goes on the spot, with running data verified once it is done.
Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second diagnostic is what confirms the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still showing.
What a DPF clean will not fix
A clean cures one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor reporting a block that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- the AdBlue system failing
- a regeneration that never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
The first check is there for just that. You are told before any work begins, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is replaced: the filter you already own is treated where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it hollowed out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
Prices for DPF cleaning in The Quarter
A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. The clean itself begins from £299.
Once we are told what you run, and roughly what the filter will need, the figure gets fixed over phone. A single price for every job would not be truthful. What you run and where you are both shift it: The Quarter itself, out at Marden Thorn, or farther out across the TN postcode area.
You are not billed for cleaning that the scan says will not do it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge still holds.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer comes back to The Quarter.
Fantastic service!!!!! Rung them and they came out the next day! Guy was fantastic and was only there just over an hour. would highly recommend.
Zoltan came to our house today to fix our DPF. He arrived promptly, gave us all the information and was absolutely professional and knowledgeable. He was friendly and explained everything he did so we fully understood. He's an asset to your company.
Very impressed with the service. Arranged an appointment the day after I called, and kept me informed of actual time. Friendly Engineer, called Daz arrived. Talked through everything clearly and completed work quickly. Gave good and honest advice - would definitely use again. Thank you!
What we clean, and how far we reach round The Quarter
Whatever it is — car, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one mobile service stands, and the filter never leaves it.
Week in week out there is by then someone on Pinnock Lane, so The Quarter rarely means a special trip, and Marden Thorn, Sinkhurst Green and the spots past Staplehurst come with it. Phone anyway from further out through Kent. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the day you are given depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.
The patch around The Quarter
The Quarter is a suburban area in Kent, situated inland at an elevation of 24 metres, and is located near the villages of Staplehurst and Marden Thorn. The Quarter has a population of around 1161 people and is characterised by semi-detached housing. The Quarter is part of the wider landscape of the Weald of Kent, a region of rolling hills and woodland.
Things The Quarter drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- If you spot it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. Five minutes to Spar and back will not be enough; motorway speed, held for a while, will.
- How long does the visit last?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes need a second pass, which extends it.
- Across The Quarter, what does it cost?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. Pricing is done by phone, since what you run and where you are both shift the price.
- Do I have to be present?
- You need not stand with it — the car only needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours. Travel along if you prefer, and the regeneration becomes a monitored drive.
- How soon can someone get to The Quarter?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the calendar. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the TN area has available.
- Does the filter come away from the motor?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it stands. Lifting a filter off or fitting one back on come to anything work we do either way.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to The Quarter.
