Mobile DPF Cleaning covering The Marsh, Wiltshire
Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the car. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter drives out to your address across The Marsh, treats the diesel particulate filter where it is, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
You'll have a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
Written for the state most callers are in: the light on already, the car starved for power, and the visit still to arrange.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the filter, always. Opening thing to get straight. Cleaning is not where a visit begins. A check is — a number of faults register as the same light.
The use you get in the meantime matters. That is the second thing.
- Amber light, car still driving normally — a long steady run can even now sort it on its own. Costs nothing at all, and worth a try before you call anything.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop arranging long drives and book it in.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to grow for weeks before it arrives:
- climbing uphill, the power falls off
- you notice the revs fall short of where they always went
- the fuel economy is down
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not evidence by itself. With the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog round The Marsh
Being a residential suburb, The Marsh produces just the use a DPF manages worst. The school run to Broad Chalke CofE Primary School, Little London at a halt at the morning rush, five minutes to Co-op, the run to Tisbury — not one bit of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. The soot banks up rather than clearing.
Except when you have a routine reason to head out to the M27, under 25 miles from The Marsh, or across to Salisbury under 10 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a sustained run. Geography is unhelpful.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. With output capped and the revs held, the regeneration the filter wants will not run at all. That tells, because starting one is exactly what a long run does.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. Beyond that point — limp mode — more driving will not manage it, and the filter requires treatment.
On-site DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands across The Marsh
The filter does not come off. That is the detail most drivers do not anticipate: the job happens with the DPF still bolted to the car, on your front, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can sit for a while.
Nothing is cleaned until other faults are ruled out. That requires a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware.
A cleaning solution then is injected through the access point on that car, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. A second pass is sometimes required on badly clogged filters.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean freed. Ride along with the motor and it becomes a monitored drive out of The Marsh. Drop it and the regeneration is done statically, with real-time data verified once it is done.
A second scan proves the change, puts out the warning light and logs anything still open. Both read-outs are sent over, so you have the before and after figures to hand.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Only one fault is fixed by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, flagging a restriction that is not real
- an EGR valve held open
- an AdBlue system fault
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration starting at all
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
Which is why the scan comes first. You are let know before any work gets going, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth knowing. Leaving the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
What DPF cleaning costs around The Marsh
Every visit carries a call-out charge — travelling to you, taking the booking, carrying out the diagnostic and offering the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We fix it over phone, once the vehicle and its probable needs are established. What you drive and where you are both shift it: The Marsh itself, over at Mount Sorrel, or farther out within the SP postcode area.
If the scan rules a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done, the call-out charge nonetheless applies.
If the light returns inside that time, an engineer heads back out to The Marsh — the work carries a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near The Marsh
Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one mobile service stands, and the filter never departs it.
Most weeks there is already someone on Little London, so The Marsh hardly ever means a detour, and Mount Sorrel, New Town and the villages past Broad Chalke follow. It is the schedule, not the distance, that picks whether it is this day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so phone anyway from further out across Wiltshire.

What The Marsh drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- If you get it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a long spell, rather than a quick trip to Co-op.
- Does the visit take long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly blocked filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- How much does it cost in The Marsh?
- Treatment starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the price, so we settle it on the phone.
- Is it needed for me to be around?
- No. The motor wants a spot to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
- How soon can someone travel to The Marsh?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the SP area.
- Does the filter come away from the motor?
- Done where it stands, on this service, so no. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to The Marsh.
