Mobile DPF Cleaning in The Holt and Berkshire
The vehicle sits put — mobile DPF cleaning comes to it. No workshop, no filter coming off. An engineer travels to your place in The Holt, treats the diesel particulate filter in place, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
You'll know a figure by phone before anyone goes, the clean starting from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
Written for the position most callers are in: the light on already, the motor short for power, and the clean still to fix.
The DPF light is on. What next?
First thing: it is not automatically the filter. A number of faults put the identical light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit starts with a check rather than with a clean.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Worth a go before you call anything: amber light, vehicle driving fine, just one constant run, no cost.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
What the car has been telling you
The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have normally been building for weeks:
- going uphill, the power drops away
- an engine whose revs will not rise like they did
- worse fuel economy
- stop/start without a word packing in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is showing too.
What blocks diesel particulate filters near The Holt
The day-to-day driving that belongs to a rural village like The Holt is the least kind type for a DPF. None of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Robert Piggott CofE Infant School, Blakes Lane barely moving at half eight, five minutes to Waitrose, the dash to Wargrave. What should burn off remains.
Neither is a long way from The Holt: under 5 miles to the A404(M), under 50 miles to Oxford. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter never gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
Limp mode is the motor protecting itself. The whole difficulty is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is limited.
Sound advice, that motorway run — up until the day it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter needs cleaning.
On-site DPF cleaning where the motor stands round The Holt
The filter does not budge. That is the detail most owners do not expect: the job takes place with the DPF yet bolted to the car, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a couple of hours.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a figure, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the related parts — all of it read before a thing is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never shift are freed next, by a cleaning solution put through the entry point on that car, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes called for on badly blocked filters.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of The Holt; if not, statically where the car waits, with the running data read once done.
Then a second check, verifying the change, putting out the warning light and logging anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Cleaning cures one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor reporting a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- the AdBlue system failing
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting at all
- turbo failure, with oil entering the filter
That is what the first scan is for. If one of those is the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.
Gutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a functioning DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the phrase people search for, though nothing is replaced — your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth noting.
The price for DPF cleaning in The Holt
The cleaning starts from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that goes with it.
Naming a flat rate would not be truthful. We fix it by phone, once the vehicle and its likely needs are established. The place you are tells as much as what you drive: The Holt itself, Upper Wargrave close by, or farther out in the RG postcode area.
If the scan counts a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. You even so pay that charge: someone came out, did the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.
Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer returns to The Holt.
Engineer was very informative and polite, my car was fixed and I can only assume it will be ok in the future. Good service from this company.
Very honest, friendly and straight forward company and engineer (Attilla). He ran a diagnostic check and said that they could try cleaning it out but it would probably block again within a few weeks. Hence I was very happy to have only paid the £150.
A very efficient service by the 2 men that came to me today. It didn't take too long, very professional and i'm so pleased, thank you, Anita Robertson-Wynne.
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach round The Holt
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
The same run that keeps our engineers on Blakes Lane most weeks picks up The Holt, Upper Wargrave, Knowl Hill and the spots beyond Kiln Green. Even further out through Berkshire is nonetheless worth phoning about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Things The Holt drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- It may, provided you spot it in time and limp mode has not begun. Ten minutes to Waitrose and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.
- How long does the visit last?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely clogged filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- What does it cost around The Holt?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the scan and the advice; the clean itself starts from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Have I need to be present?
- No. The motor requires somewhere to wait for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to The Holt?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the diary. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the RG area has open.
- Is the filter removed from the vehicle?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it sits. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- An engineer travels back out to The Holt — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
