Mobile DPF Cleaning in The Haw and Gloucestershire

Mobile DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. A technician comes at your address in The Haw, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled by the phone before anyone travels.

If the light is already on and the vehicle is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most people arrive here.

Your DPF light is showing — what then?

The unit is not automatically what is to blame, and that leads. That light can come from several faults, not merely one, so the visit begins with a scan and not with treatment.

The use you get in the meantime tells. That is the next thing.

  • A long even run may even now do it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle drives as normal. Costs nothing at all, so attempt that before booking.
  • Car already dropped into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not touch it now.
  • A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the point to stop booking long drives and ring.

Signs the motor has been showing you

By the time the light arrives, things have usually been deteriorating for some time. It is late news:

  • less power, especially pulling uphill
  • you notice the revs fall short of where they used to go
  • fuel consumption turning worse
  • a stop/start that has silently given up
  • smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell inside

None of that is evidence alone. The light beside them suggests a loaded filter.

What clogs diesel particulate filters near The Haw

The Haw is a rural hamlet, and the day-to-day driving that goes with one is the least kind type for a DPF. Think about a normal week: Deerhurst and Apperley Church of England Primary School and home again, B4213 at a standstill before half nine, a short hop to Aldi, a hop to Gloucester. None of it there lasts long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. Soot that should burn off builds up instead.

The map does not assist either. The M50 is under 5 miles from The Haw and Gloucester is under 10 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way routinely, whole weeks go by without the long unbroken run that would scour the filter on its own.

DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode kills it

It is self-defence: that is all limp mode amounts to. The real problem is that a proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.

Running it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it works right up to a limit. Past that stage — limp mode — more driving will not do it, and the filter requires cleaning.

DPF cleaning at the car round The Haw

Most owners do not expect this bit: the filter stays put. The job happens with the DPF still fixed to the car — on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a while.

Nothing is cleaned until other faults are cleared. That means a diagnostic first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related hardware.

Then the treatment. A cleaning solution goes in through the entry point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. Badly loaded filters sometimes need a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has loosened. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of The Haw, with you there, or it goes where the vehicle stands and the running data is checked afterwards.

Then a second scan, proving the change, putting out the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both sets of figures are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.

Where a clean is not the solution

One thing is what cleaning answers — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • a temperature or pressure sensor showing a block that is not there
  • an EGR valve stuck open
  • the AdBlue system failing
  • faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
  • the turbo putting oil into the filter

That is what the first scan is for. Where one of those is the fault, you find out about it at the outset rather than once the money has gone already.

Two more worth knowing. Getting the filter gutted is not a remedy — a vehicle without a working DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is treated in place and sent back into use.

DPF cleaning prices across The Haw

Any visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, doing the scan and passing on the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.

Once we are told what you run, and broadly what the filter will take, the number gets agreed over phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. Two things shift it: what you own, and where you are — The Haw itself, over at Town Street, or otherwise out in the GL postcode area.

You are not billed for treatment that the diagnostic says will not do it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have been done, the call-out charge even so stands.

The job comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to The Haw if the light returns inside that window.

What we clean, and how far we go around The Haw

The one call-out service spans cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is cleaned on the vehicle rather than taken anywhere.

Technicians are along B4213 most weeks, so The Haw is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run covers Town Street, Hasfield and the villages out past Tirley. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out through Gloucestershire is nonetheless worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

The patch around The Haw

The Haw is a small riverside hamlet in Gloucestershire, situated near the city of Gloucester and close to the villages of Tirley and Lower Apperley. The Haw sits at a low elevation of around 10 metres, reflecting its location in the valley of the River Severn. The Haw is characterized by its predominantly detached housing stock, which is typical of many rural areas in the South West of England.

Questions The Haw drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run shift it?
Sometimes, if you get it in time and the car has not dropped into limp mode. Five minutes to Aldi and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
About how long does it last?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can require a second clean, which adds to that.
How much does it cost around The Haw?
Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the figure.
Have I got to be present?
The motor wants a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
Travelling to The Haw — how soon?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is normal. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the GL area.
Is the filter removed from the vehicle?
Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it stands. Taking a filter off or putting one back on amount to anything something we do whichever way.
What if the light comes back?
The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer coming back to The Haw.
