Mobile DPF Cleaning across The Fence, Gloucestershire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. Your vehicle is not taken away and the filter doesn't come off. A technician turns up at your door across The Fence, treats the diesel particulate filter on the vehicle and performs a DPF regeneration.
Nobody leaves until the price is settled on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
If the light is already on and the motor is down on power, this page is the right one. That is how most owners end up here.
The DPF light is on. What then?
The DPF is not always what is wrong, and that leads. Cleaning is not where a visit starts. A scan is — a number of faults register as the same signal.
The use you get in the meantime matters. That is the next thing.
- A long even run may even now manage it, provided the light is amber and the car drives fine. Costs zero, so have a go at that before booking.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has now shut.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop planning long drives and ring.
The vehicle has been warning you already
Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to mount for a while before it shows:
- falling off on power, above all uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they used to
- economy that is worse than before
- a stop/start that has quietly packed in
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. Next to the light, it is a fair bet the filter is blocked.
What chokes diesel particulate filters near The Fence
The Fence is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that comes with one is the poorest sort for a DPF. Run through an ordinary week: St Briavels Parochial Church of England Primary School and home again, Stowe Road at a halt before half nine, a quick trip to The Co-operative Food, a dash to Lydney. Nothing there goes on long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. The soot load collects rather than burning away.
Except when you have a standing reason to get out to the M48, under 10 miles from The Fence, or out to Newport under 25 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a long unbroken drive. Geography is no help.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode is. The real catch is that a sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
The common advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The filter requires cleaning rather than driving once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is treated in The Fence
Nothing comes off the car. That surprises people. The DPF stays bolted where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, wherever it can sit for two hours or so.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated hardware — all of it read before anything is touched.
Next comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the vehicle's own entry point, spreading inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration never can. Severely loaded filters sometimes take a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has freed. Come with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of The Fence. Leave it and the regeneration is done statically, with live data verified once it is done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still open written down. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment cures. It will not touch:
- the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
- EGR valves that hang open
- the AdBlue system failing
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- oil coming through the filter from a failing turbo
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. Where one of those proves the fault, you find out about it up front rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into service.
DPF cleaning costs around The Fence
Each visit attracts a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, doing the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
No flat rate would be straight, so the figure is fixed on the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. A pair of things move it: what you run, and where you are — The Fence itself, across at Lower Meend, or farther out across the GL postcode area.
Cleaning that will not help is not a clean you pay for, and the check is what says so. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so applies.
The clean includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to The Fence if the light reappears inside that time.
The mechanic 'Zultan' turned up, friendly and helpful, dealt with my car like a professional. I'd recommend DPF Fixer to everyone.
The engineer did a fantastic job, quickly fixed the issue and provided an outstanding service i would highly recommend him.
Dan came out on time, did the job perfectly and explained each step of the process clearly to me, along the way; with tips on how to prevent any future DPF cloggages. This is a reliable company, and judging by Dan, with great, reliable technicians! Thanks Dan!
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near The Fence
A single mobile service spans cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than carried anywhere.
Week in week out there is already someone on Stowe Road, so The Fence seldom means a detour, and Lower Meend, St Briavels and the villages past The Narth are on the way. Farther out through Gloucestershire is still worth a call — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that decides between this day and the next.

Things The Fence drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- It may, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not set in. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes flat to The Co-operative Food and back.
- The visit runs how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- Price in The Fence — what is it?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
- Have I got to be there?
- Somewhere for the car to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. Come along if you like, and the regeneration is done as a watched drive.
- When can someone get to The Fence?
- That hangs on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the GL area has free.
- Is the filter lifted off the motor?
- Not on the call-out service — it is cleaned where it is. Taking a filter off or putting one back on come to anything something we do whichever way.
- And if the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer heading back to The Fence.
