Mobile DPF Cleaning serving The Corner, Shropshire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. The fitter arrives at your door over in The Corner and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
Nobody sets off until the figure is agreed on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
The light is already on and the car is short of power — that is how we usually find people, and precisely what this page deals with.
What to do when the DPF light comes on
First thing: it is not always the DPF. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A scan is — a number of faults show up as the same light.
It counts what you get with the vehicle between now and the visit.
- Worth a try before you call anything: amber light, car driving fine, just one steady run, no outlay.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, a long run will not touch it. The window has shut.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
Signs the vehicle has been showing you
The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been mounting for a while:
- power dropping away, particularly pulling uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they used to
- fuel economy turning worse
- quietly, the stop/start gives up
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
That is not proof alone. Next to the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.
The cause diesel particulate filters block around The Corner
The Corner is a small village, and the motoring that belongs to one is the least kind sort for a DPF. Nothing of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Wistanstow CofE Primary School, Gates Lane crawling at half eight, five minutes to Tuffins, the hop to Craven Arms. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot collects.
Unless you have a routine need to head out to the M54, under 25 miles from The Corner, or out to Hereford under 50 miles away, whole weeks go by without a long steady drive. Geography is no help.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.
The standard advice — take it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are past that line, and the filter requires cleaning rather than road work.
DPF cleaning at the car round The Corner
The filter does not come off. That is the part most people do not expect: the job happens with the DPF even now fitted to the vehicle, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can sit for a few hours.
Nothing is started until other faults are ruled out. That requires a diagnostic first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and associated components.
After that comes the clean itself: solution in through the motor's own entry point, spreading inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to take doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has loosened. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of The Corner, with you there, or it is done where the motor sits and the real-time data is checked afterwards.
Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second diagnostic is what confirms the change, puts out the light and notes whatever is still showing.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
A clean answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- a pressure sensor flagging a restriction that is not there
- an EGR valve held open
- an AdBlue system fault
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever completes
- turbo problems, with oil getting into the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. You are warned before the work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is replaced: the filter you already own is treated where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it gutted a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
Costs for DPF cleaning in The Corner
A call-out charge holds whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice offered. Treatment itself opens from £299.
Once we have what you own, and roughly what the filter will need, the price gets settled on the phone. A single price for every job would not be truthful. Where you are tells as much as what you own: The Corner itself, Felhampton nearby, or further out in the SY postcode area.
If the scan writes cleaning out, there is nothing to pay for it. You even so pay that charge: someone came out, did the diagnostic and offered you the advice.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer coming back out to The Corner if the light reappears inside the window.
Andras was brilliant. Text me when he was 10 mins away, he was very informative whilst working and really organised. Anymore problems with my DPF I will contact DPF fixer again no hesitation.
Great service from Nic. Arrived on time and dealt with the blocked DPF in my Mazda 6 2.2 diesel with ease. I received a clear report with advisories for my local garage to deal with, plus excellent advice to avoid further issues. Highly recommended.
Igor the engineer was informative and to the point and actually sorted the issue out. Experience from query to the actual job was great.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near The Corner
Whatever it is — car, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the same mobile service holds, and the filter never leaves it.
Engineers are along Gates Lane nearly every week, so The Corner is rarely a special trip, and the same run covers Felhampton, Wettles and the spots out past Bushmoor. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out through Shropshire is still worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Things The Corner drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- If you spot it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. That means motorway speed for a sustained run, rather than a short trip to Tuffins.
- Does the visit run long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- What does it cost around The Corner?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the scan and the advice. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both shift the figure.
- Must I be there in person?
- The car requires a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a watched drive instead.
- When can someone travel to The Corner?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is free across the SY area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- Not on the mobile service — it is done where it sits. Nor does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light returns?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to The Corner.
