Mobile DPF Cleaning in The Causeway, Wiltshire
Cleaning the DPF happens at the car, not at a garage. No body shop, no filter coming off. An engineer comes to your door over in The Causeway, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Nobody travels until the price is agreed over the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
If the light is already on and the motor is low on power, this page is the right one. That is how most owners get to us.
DPF light on? What happens next
It might not be the DPF whatsoever. That is the opening thing. Cleaning is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — a number of faults show up as the same signal.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.
- A long even run may yet manage it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle goes as normal. Costs nothing, so attempt that before calling.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, motoring will not touch it. The window has gone.
- Stop booking long drives and get it checked if the interior smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Signs the motor has been giving you
Late news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it shows:
- dropping away on power, especially uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- worse fuel consumption
- without a word, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
None of that is conclusive on its own. Alongside the light alongside them, the filter is a fair guess.
What blocks diesel particulate filters round The Causeway
For a DPF, the least kind use is the sort you find across a residential suburb such as The Causeway. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Mere School, Balmoor Close standing at half eight, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to Gillingham (Dorset). Unburnt soot that should clear builds up instead.
Except when you have a standing reason to get out to the M4, under 50 miles from The Causeway, or over to Wells under 25 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a long steady run. Geography is against you.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode means. The entire difficulty is that a proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands as far as a limit. In limp mode you are beyond that point: a clean is what will help, not more driving.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is done across The Causeway
The filter does not come off. That is the detail most owners do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the car can sit for a while.
Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That requires a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated hardware.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the car's own access point, spreading inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration cannot. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of The Causeway; if not, in place where the motor sits, with the running data read afterwards.
Finally the check runs again — the change confirmed, the light reset, anything still open logged. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are on record.
The problems a DPF clean cannot cure
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing a clean answers. It will not touch:
- temperature or pressure sensors showing a restriction that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- AdBlue system failures
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration completing at all
- turbo failure, with oil reaching the filter
Which is why the check goes first. When one of those proves the fault, you hear about it in advance rather than once the money has left for good.
Two things more worth knowing. Getting the filter hollowed out is not a fix — a vehicle without a working DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your own filter is treated in place and put back into use.
DPF cleaning costs in The Causeway
Each visit takes a call-out charge — travelling to you, taking the booking, running the scan and passing on the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
Once we have what you run, and about what the filter will take, the price gets settled over phone. A single price for all would not be honest. The place you are tells as much as what you drive: The Causeway itself, Southbrook nearby, or otherwise out in the BA postcode area.
You are not charged for a clean that the diagnostic says will not work. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still stands.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer heads back to The Causeway.
Had my Dpf cleaned today after after séseveral attempt from garage. It was a pleasant and professional work done by Liamf. I will definitely recommend at 100%.

Where we reach near The Causeway, and what we clean
The filter is done in place on all of them: private cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
The Causeway is rarely a special trip: engineers are out on Balmoor Close week in week out, and the same run picks up Southbrook, Rook Street and the spots out past Milton on Stour. Further out through Wiltshire is nonetheless worth a call — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that picks between today and tomorrow.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning across The Causeway
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- It may, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not arrived. Five minutes to Co-op Food and back will not be enough; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
- How long does the visit run?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely blocked filter can take a second clean, which adds to that.
- Around The Causeway, what does it run to?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
- Have I got to be around?
- No. The motor needs space to wait for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. The regeneration can be done as a supervised drive if you would prefer to ride along.
- When can someone come to The Causeway?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is normal. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the BA area.
- The filter — does it come away from the motor?
- Cleaned where it is, on this service, so no. Taking a filter off or fitting one back on amount to anything something we do whichever way.
- What if the light reappears?
- An engineer travels back out to The Causeway — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
