Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning for The Cape, Warwickshire

The vehicle sits in place — on-site DPF cleaning travels to it. A fitter comes at your place in The Cape, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the motor, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

You'll have a price by phone before anyone leaves, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the car down on power. That is exactly what this page is written for.

Your DPF light is on — what now?

First thing: it is not automatically the unit. A check comes before all cleaning, because that same dash light has several candidate faults behind it.

It counts what you do with the car between now and the visit.

  • Amber light, motor still driving fine — a long even run can yet shift it alone. Costs zero, and worth a try before you call anything.
  • Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not shift it now.
  • Stop booking long drives and get it seen to if the cabin stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.

What the vehicle has been warning you

Symptoms have generally been growing for some time before the light ever arrives. Belated news, in other words:

  • less power, above all going uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not rise like they did
  • worse fuel use
  • a stop/start that has silently bowed out
  • the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate

Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. The light alongside them suggests a full filter.

What chokes diesel particulate filters round The Cape

Being a residential suburb, The Cape throws up precisely the motoring a DPF copes with least well. None of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Woodloes Primary School, Hanworth Road barely moving at the morning rush, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Warwick. The soot load collects rather than burning away.

Neither is distant from The Cape: under 3 miles to the M40, under 10 miles to Coventry. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter simply never happens.

DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode stops it

It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. A sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode prevents: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration on offer.

The common advice — take it up the motorway — is sound, right until it is not. The filter needs a clean rather than road work once the motor has dropped into limp mode.

DPF cleaning at the motor across The Cape

On your driveway, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a few hours: the job is done with the filter yet fitted on, which is the detail most people do not expect.

The ECU is read first, reporting soot load by percentage and by actual weight, along with a review of sensors, glow plugs and connected parts, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still possible.

Then comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the motor's own access point, opening out inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. Where the filter is badly blocked, allow for a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of The Cape if you are present, or a static regeneration where the motor stands, with the live data checked afterwards.

A second diagnostic confirms the change, clears the warning light and lists anything still open. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

One thing is what a clean cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • sensors, pressure, showing a restriction that is not real
  • EGR valves that stick open
  • AdBlue system failures
  • worn glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever starts
  • a turbo pushing oil through the filter

That is what the first diagnostic is for. You are warned before any work begins, not after you have handed over, where it turns out to be one of those.

Gutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a functioning DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the wording people type in, though nothing is exchanged — your existing filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth noting.

What DPF cleaning comes to in The Cape

A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

Naming a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it by phone, once the motor and its expected needs are known. The place you are matters as much as what you own: The Cape itself, Packmores close by, or further out across the CV postcode area.

Where the scan says treatment will not help, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.

If the light reappears inside that time, an engineer heads back out to The Cape — the job includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

Cleaning a diesel particulate filter on site in The Cape

Perfect service. I would recommend DPF Fixer to anyone. Turned up on time. Did a good job and a sensible price.

Christopher C.

The DPF engineer resolved the Exhaust filter issues with our vehicle. He was very efficient and explained the process and what was happening as well as recommendations on how to avoid future problems. Excellent service.

Andy M.

Very nice young gentleman he did a good job and his advise was noted and issues that he picked up will be looked in to in the coming weeks.

What we clean, and how far we go round The Cape

One mobile service takes in private cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than moved anywhere.

Week in week out there is usually someone on Hanworth Road, so The Cape rarely means a special trip, and Packmores, Woodloes Park and the villages past Warwick are on the way. Call anyway from further out across Warwickshire. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you are given depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.

The Cape itself

The Cape is a suburban area in Warwickshire, situated on the riverside with a mix of terraced housing. The Cape sits at an elevation of 63 metres, approximately 9 miles from Coventry and near other local places such as Packmores and Woodloes Park. The Cape is part of the larger West Midlands region, within commuting distance of major cities and about 82.7 miles from London.

What The Cape drivers wonder about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive clear it?
It might, provided you catch it early and limp mode has not arrived. That requires motorway speed for a sustained run, rather than a quick trip to Co-op Food.
The visit takes how long?
Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is heavily clogged.
Around The Cape, what does it run to?
The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
Do I have to be around?
No. The vehicle wants space to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Come along if you prefer, and the regeneration becomes a monitored drive.
Coming to The Cape — how soon?
That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the CV area.
Does the filter leave the car?
Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it stands. Nor does lifting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
And if the light reappears?
The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer coming back to The Cape.
