Mobile DPF Cleaner

The Camp Mobile DPF Cleaning, Gloucestershire

You are based in The Camp with the DPF lamp on, and mobile DPF cleaning is the practical way out of it. A DPF engineer drives out to your home or workplace in The Camp, clears the DPF unit while it is still attached to the motor, and completes a DPF regeneration before leaving. Nothing gets done to the motor while you hang on. It stays with you throughout, and nothing is taken off it.

DPF cleaning carried out at an address in The Camp, Gloucestershire

Ahead of anyone being sent out, you will know the quote and have a visit booked. Just phone 0303 330 1830 and tell us how the car has been running. You are starting at from £299 for call-out DPF regeneration around The Camp, and around a couple of hours of an engineer's time.

You might not expect a population of around 463 to keep us as occupied as The Camp does. It is no fluke: the driving here is precisely the type that chokes filters, so the DPF cleans pile up. We reach The Camp and the whole of the GL postcode area regularly on the same day or the next, though that comes down to how the schedule is booked. 7.30am to 6.30pm from Monday to Thursday, and 7.30am to 5.30pm on Friday — those are the phone hours. The service itself runs seven days a week.

Exactly what chokes diesel particulate filters around The Camp

A DPF copes worst with short, cold, stop-start trips. Those are the trips a rural hamlet like The Camp produces. Run through your own week: Miserden Church of England Primary School and home again, Withybed Lane at a shuffle, five minutes at Waitrose, a short run to Stroud. None of it goes on for long enough or climbs hot enough to see through a burn cycle, so what should clear banks up instead.

Just under 5 miles to the M5, and under 10 miles to Gloucester. Neither is much of a distance, but neither is on the way to anything most weeks, so units here hardly ever get the long steady drive that clears them. Hence the number of calls from The Camp and from Througham and Sheepscombe.

By the time the light comes on, the signs have typically been mounting for weeks: power and acceleration drop away, the rev counter stop climbing the way they used to, there is sometimes a diesel tang in the cabin or sooty smoke on acceleration, fuel economy gets visibly heavier, and stop/start quietly stops working. A warning light that clears by itself has still flagged something worth following up.

Everything mobile DPF regeneration involves, once the engineer is in The Camp

You do not have to take the vehicle anywhere. The van travels to your drive, to somewhere off The Spinney, or to the Waitrose car park round the corner, and here is what follows.

  1. Nothing is fetched from a branch. Everything the job requires travels with the engineer, in a kitted-out van. Real-time data is pulled off the vehicle's ECU first, and a fault check is carried out, all ahead of any work. You get a hard figure rather than an estimate: how choked the DPF is by percentage and soot weight, with the sensor feeds, plugs and associated components examined alongside it. A warning light alone does not show the DPF is at fault.
  2. If it is the filter, a treatment solution is injected through the optimal access point on that vehicle and left to expand inside it, lifting the soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge. You may require a repeat clean if the loading is a heavy one.
  3. The DPF regeneration run then drives out what is left. If you are around and willing to come along, that is done as a dynamic regeneration on a monitored drive out of The Camp — the sort of run the filter has been going without. If not, a static regeneration is carried out on the spot and the live readings reviewed after that. A second diagnostic scan closes the job: it proves the result, extinguishes the warning light, and lists whatever is still outstanding.

All you need is somewhere the car can wait for the length of the job with the motor turning over at times. You do not have to hang about with the vehicle at all. A driveway over in The Camp works, so does an office car park, so does a spare space over by The Camp Long Barrow.

DPF cleaning in progress on a vehicle in The Camp

Checking your diesel particulate filter actually is to blame

Two things are settled by the questions over the phone: whether a DPF clean will cure the signs you have reported, and what the price is. That is why they are asked, and it is not small talk. Nothing is dispatched to The Camp until the job has been costed.

A choked filter is what a clean solves. Not everything that lights up the dashboard has the same cause. Telling apart a blocked filter from everything else is the purpose of the pre-clean check. Where the fault is found to be an EGR valve, injectors, a turbo, an AdBlue system, plugs or a sensor, a clean will not cure it — and our engineers say so at the outset rather than once the money has been taken.

DPF regeneration, and when it is not sufficient on its own

Attempt a long run ahead of phoning anyone. It will scour a diesel particulate filter that is only beginning to fill up. Allow it under 5 miles out of The Camp to the M5 and keep a steady cruise, or swing the long way into Gloucester. What will not work is another five-minute run over to Whiteway. An on-site clean in The Camp is the obvious move once the light is lit and the vehicle has dropped into reduced power, because by then the soot level is well past what a regeneration alone will clear.

Worth noting ahead of choosing, two things:

  • Driving without a serviceable DPF is an offence, and the vehicle cannot pass its MOT. Cutting the unit out is not a cure.
  • No part is changed on the call-out visit. A clean gets searched for as DPF renewal, but your existing filter sits where it is and goes back to work.

There is one proviso, and it is a vehicle that will not start at all — the on-site method in The Camp is not available then. Treatment then happens at our own premises instead, within 24 hours of the unit arriving, with overnight courier back. Getting it boxed up and on to a carrier is down to whoever takes it off. Neither service extends to us taking the DPF off or refitting one.

DPF cleaning costs for The Camp

Mobile DPF regeneration is costed from £299. You get the price on the phone rather than from a list, because two things shift it: the vehicle, and what the unit proves to need. Tell us what you run and broadly whereabouts you are, whether that is up towards Miserden Village Hall, out by Througham, in the centre of The Camp, or further off in the GL area. Both shift the price. You will know the price yourself ahead of anybody being sent.

A 30-day warranty sits behind the work, aftercare included, once the clean is done. A badge on a web page proves nothing. What proves it is that the DPF warning light coming back during the period brings an engineer out to The Camp again.

Fantastic service from Andras and his trainee assistant (Andy?) sorry the name has slipped my brain. Andras was very knowledgeable and he got my van running within good time. I'm very happy with the service I was given! Thank you.

James C.

Liam did a great job and I was very happy with the level of service and professionalism. Thanks for being so flexible in your times to fix the dpf.

Oliver A.

Logan came out and was outstanding. He explained every step and was really patient with all my questions. Highly recommended.

What we clean diesel particulate filters on round The Camp

The same on-site work deals with cars, vans and light commercial vehicles, HGVs, plant and site machinery, and farm vehicles. Our premises is not where the job is done. Yours is, with the DPF cleared in situ on every machine on that list.

You are within the area whether you are in The Camp, over in Througham or Sheepscombe, or out beyond Whiteway and Miserden. There is generally a van down Withybed Lane most days. Phone even if you are away from The Camp or elsewhere in Gloucestershire, because the coverage extends nationwide.

The advice is the part that prevents the DPF blocking straight back up, and it is geared to how the vehicle is genuinely driven round The Camp. It arrives by email after the clean, with the diagnostic readouts from before and after.

Catalytic converters are cleared on the vehicle also, which counts because a clogged one is easily mixed up with a choked DPF. Its symptoms are different — flat response, a rotten-egg or sulphur smell, more heat than usual under the floor, and often a P0420 code.

DPF cleaning queries from The Camp drivers

Around The Camp, what does DPF cleaning come to?

Two things change the number: the vehicle, and the distance. Figures begin from £299, and knowing whether you sit in the heart of The Camp, over by Sheepscombe, or out at the far side of the GL postcode area is what lets us cost properly.

Is the service on-site in The Camp?

Yes. An engineer drives to your house or your work, right across The Camp or the broader Gloucestershire area. Cleaning takes place on the car, where it sits, and the diesel particulate filter is never detached.

When can a technician make it to The Camp?

Usually the same day or the one after, though it hinges on what is already in. What is available across the GL area is something our team can tell you straight away — 0303 330 1830 is the line.

How long is a call-out DPF visit?

A heavily clogged unit needs cleaning twice and adds time, but roughly two hours is typical.

Is a DPF really needed, or can I have it removed?

You do need it. Cut the DPF out and your vehicle will fail its MOT, driving it becomes against the law, and nothing is actually put right — so our engineers do not offer the work.

The DPF light returns — what happens?

You are sent a technician back out to The Camp, underwritten by the 30-day warranty.

The cleaning will hold up how long?

That comes down to how the motor is run after that. Give it a good run now and then, out towards Gloucester, or under 5 miles from The Camp down to the M5. That does far more good than nipping over to Througham and back. Whoever comes out will run through the driving that suits your own car.
