Mobile DPF Cleaning serving The Borough, Greater London
Mobile DPF cleaning travels to the car. A fitter arrives at your address in The Borough, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
You'll know a number by phone before anyone goes, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the car short of power. That is the position this page is meant for.
Your DPF light is lit — what now?
The unit is not necessarily what is wrong, and that comes first. A clean is not where a visit starts. A check is — plenty of faults show up as the same signal.
It matters what you do with the car between now and the appointment.
- Amber light, car yet driving fine — a long even run can still sort it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- Car already fallen into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not shift it now.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it checked if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Signs the motor has been sending you
By the time the light appears, things have generally been slipping for a while. It is last news:
- less power, above all pulling uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they always did
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- the stop/start silently giving up
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is blocked.
What blocks diesel particulate filters around The Borough
For a DPF, the worst driving is the type you find in a residential suburb such as The Borough. The school run to The Cathedral School of St Saviour and St Mary Overie, Redcross Way at a standstill at the morning rush, five minutes to Taste Croatia, the dash to London Bridge — none of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. Instead of burning off, the unburnt soot collects.
Unless you have a standing cause to get out to the M1, under 10 miles from The Borough, or across to London under a mile away, weeks pass without a long steady drive. Geography is unhelpful.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode is. The entire catch is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
So the common advice to run it up the motorway is good advice, until it stops being. In limp mode you are past that line: cleaning is what will help, not more road work.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is treated across The Borough
Most owners do not expect this part: the filter remains. The job happens with the DPF still fixed to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a few hours.
First a check. Running ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a weight, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it read before any of it is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never shift are loosened second, by a cleaning fluid put through the access port on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. Where the filter is badly blocked, expect a second pass.
A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of The Borough if you are present, or a static regeneration where the vehicle waits, with the live data checked afterwards.
Then a second check, proving the change, clearing the warning light and noting anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.
Where a clean is not the fix
One thing is what a clean fixes — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a block that is not real
- an EGR valve held open
- the AdBlue system failing
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration running in the first place
- turbo problems, with oil entering the filter
Which is why the diagnostic goes first. Turning out to be one of them means learning it before work begins, not after paying anything.
DPF renewal is what people search for, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it cut out a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth noting.
DPF cleaning charges in The Borough
Every visit attracts a call-out charge — coming out to you, taking the booking, doing the check and giving the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
The number is fixed over the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be truthful. The place you are matters as much as what you drive: The Borough itself, Elephant and Castle nearby, or otherwise out in the SE postcode area.
You are not charged for treatment that the diagnostic says will not do it. What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the scan was run and the advice was given.
If the light reappears inside that time, an engineer comes back out to The Borough — the clean carries a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Ash was great. Super friendly and equipped with plenty of knowledge. Glad he got sent to help my car out!
I waited a month just to see, but now I'm so happy with their work, Wonderful company, easy booking, they really do their work impeccably and are reasonably flexible. They did work on my civic, ash values went from 66grams to 0.
Excellent service from Gareth at DPF fixer. Very thorough, gave full and clear explanation of problem, extremely helpful. Worth every penny for peace of mind and sorting problem.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we reach round The Borough
Cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — the one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done where it sits rather than carried anywhere.
Week in week out there is by then someone on Redcross Way, so The Borough rarely means a special trip, and Elephant and Castle, Blackfriars and the villages past Sewardstonebury follow. Further out through Greater London is still worth ringing about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that settles between today and tomorrow.

Things The Borough drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- It can, provided you catch it in time and limp mode has not arrived. It wants a long run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes flat to Taste Croatia and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily loaded filters sometimes require a second pass, which lengthens it.
- Across The Borough, what does it cost?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the scan and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both change the price.
- Must I be around in person?
- The motor requires a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Come along if you like, and the regeneration becomes a watched drive.
- When can someone come to The Borough?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. Phone 0303 330 1830 what is open across the SE area.
- Is the filter lifted off the vehicle?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. And neither does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light comes back?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to The Borough.
