Mobile DPF Cleaning across Swarland and Northumberland
Sorting the DPF happens at the motor, not at a body shop. The fitter turns up at your place over in Swarland and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
Nobody leaves until the price is agreed on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the vehicle low on power. That is the situation this page is written for.
Your DPF light is showing — what now?
Not the filter, always. First thing to say. A number of faults put the same light on the identical dash, which is why a visit starts with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.
The driving you do in the meantime counts. That is the second thing.
- Worth a go before you book anything: amber light, car driving fine, just one steady run, no charge.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.
- Get it seen to rather than driving it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the motor has been warning you
Last news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for some time before it arrives:
- less power, above all pulling uphill
- you see the revs fall short of where they once went
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- a stop/start that has quietly packed in
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears
By itself, none of that is evidence. The light beside them suggests a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Swarland
Swarland is a village, and the day-to-day driving that belongs to one is the worst kind for a DPF. A regeneration wants long enough and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to Swarland Primary School, not on Greenlea Road at the morning rush, not on a few minutes to Turnbull's Northumbrian Foodhall, and not on the run to Acklington. The soot that should clear collects instead.
Neither is a long way from Swarland: under 25 miles to the A167(M), under 25 miles to Newcastle upon Tyne. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter simply never comes.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer run
Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. Power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter wants can never happen — which is the real problem, because a sustained drive works by triggering that regeneration.
So the common advice to run it up the motorway is sensible advice, up until it stops being. The filter needs a clean rather than driving once the car has gone into limp mode.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands round Swarland
The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the car, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a few hours.
First a diagnostic. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected components — all of it logged before anything is touched.
A cleaning fluid then is fed in through the access point on that motor, expanding inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Severely clogged filters sometimes take a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has lifted. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Swarland, with you there, or it goes where the car waits and the running data is read once done.
Then a second diagnostic, verifying the change, clearing the warning light and noting anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.
The faults a DPF clean cannot fix
Only one fault is fixed by cleaning: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, reporting a restriction that is not real
- an EGR valve held open
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- a regeneration that never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
The first check is there for just that. You are let know before all work begins, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no fix. What gets typed in as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into work.
The cost of DPF cleaning in Swarland
A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice offered. The clean itself opens from £299.
Naming a flat rate would not be straight. We settle it by phone, once the motor and its probable needs are known. What you own and where you are both move it: Swarland itself, over at Hampeth, or otherwise out within the NE postcode area.
If the scan writes cleaning out, there is no charge to pay for it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so holds.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Swarland.
Great job from the Kieran did the job really well thank you for the work would use them again when I get the problem thank you Paul.
Daz was knowledgeable and friendly he explained exactly what he was doing and the process involved and within 45mins my dpf was clear and my vehicle was back running smoothly. 10 out of 10 very pleased.
Excellent service provided by DPF Fixer. They checked the computer system and cleaned the catalytic converter. After they reset and took readings to show improvements. An excellent service provided. Would recommend this company.
The vehicles we clean and the area we reach round Swarland
Private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — a single mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated in place rather than moved anywhere.
The same run that keeps engineers on Greenlea Road most weeks takes in Swarland, Hampeth, Glantlees and the places beyond Newton on the Moor. Further out through Northumberland is nonetheless worth phoning about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between this day and the next.

Things Swarland drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- If you spot it early enough, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. It needs a sustained run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Turnbull's Northumbrian Foodhall and back.
- About how long does it take?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which runs on.
- What does it come to around Swarland?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both shift the figure.
- Do I have to be present?
- No. The motor requires space to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. The regeneration can be done as a supervised drive if you would sooner come along.
- Can someone travel to Swarland soon?
- That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is available across the NE area.
- Is the filter lifted off the motor?
- It is treated where it sits, on the mobile service. Neither getting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- The light returns — then what?
- An engineer heads back out to Swarland — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
