Mobile DPF Cleaning across Sudgrove, Gloucestershire
The workshop in practice travels to your door in Sudgrove, and the motor sits where it is.
Your car isn't removed and the DPF doesn't need to come off. The DPF engineer brings a fully fitted van to you, clears the DPF where it sits, performs the regeneration and wraps up the job there. 2 hours or thereabouts takes care of the whole thing, at figures from £299, settled by phone first.
Plan on this from a DPF cleaning visit across Sudgrove
Somewhere for the van to park. An engine that can be run periodically. That's really the whole of it.
Beyond that, the visit runs itself:
- Nothing gets cleaned until we know what we're facing. A full scan pulls the vehicle's ECU and gives the soot level as a percentage and by weight, and the sensor feeds, the glow plugs and connected parts get tested at the same time.
- Baked-on soot a regeneration would never shift are what this step lifts, using a cleaning solution fed in at that vehicle's entry point and left to expand inside the DPF.
- At the kerb is the default, with a monitored trip through Sudgrove on offer if you care to come along, and the regeneration takes care of the loosened deposit regardless.
- You see the light go out and the result proved, with whatever is left reported for you.
Both reports land in your inbox afterwards, so you've got the figures from both ends.
Where does mobile DPF cleaning take place across Sudgrove?
There is no particular requirement beyond space to stand for the length of the job.
That accounts for most of what people have available:
- At home in Sudgrove, on the driveway
- The car park at the office
- The spare end of a compound
- Off Miserden Park Lane, in a space
- A retail car park such as Waitrose, while you carry on
No waiting with the car, and no unit coming off it while you are gone.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog near Sudgrove
Sudgrove is a rural hamlet, and the day-to-day driving that goes with it is what a DPF copes with worst. Soot that should burn away builds up instead, because the filter never completes a regeneration run — not on the run to Miserden Church of England Primary School, not sat on Edgeworth Road at the morning rush, not on five minutes to Waitrose, and not on the dash to Stroud.
Geography doesn't do you any favours either. The M5 is under 10 miles from Sudgrove and Gloucester stands under 10 miles away, so unless something routinely takes you out that way, weeks pass without the sustained journey that clears a filter.
The light is the last to arrive. Long before it comes on, acceleration has dropped away, the revs have stopped climbing the way they should, fuel consumption has worsened, stop/start has given up without a word, and a diesel whiff may have appeared in the car.
What call-out DPF cleaning cures, and what it does not
If soot has blocked your filter, cleaning is the answer. A great many other failures show that same light on the same dashboard, which is why there's a scan at the start and nothing is started until that's complete.
None of the following is cured by cleaning:
- A pressure or temperature sensor reporting a block that is not actually there
- A failed EGR valve
- Urea system faults
- Injectors or glow plugs that block the regeneration running
- A worn turbo pushing oil through the DPF
Long before any work gets going is when you hear, rather than once the money has been taken.
Driving without a functioning DPF is an offence and the vehicle will not get through an MOT, so having the DPF hollowed out achieves nothing. Nor is anything swapped: what people search for as DPF renewal is the existing DPF, treated where it sits and returned to service.
Have a go at a sustained run before ringing
It costs nothing to attempt, and on a barely clogged filter it normally works. From Sudgrove that means the M5, under 10 miles away, at an even speed, or the longer way round to Gloucester — not another twenty minutes to Miserden and back.
Once the light's on and you're in reduced power, that window has closed and cleaning on site is what's on offer.
What you will be charged for on-site DPF cleaning around Sudgrove
On-site DPF treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge covers any visit, taking in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostic and the steer that follows.
You'll be given the price over the phone rather than off a list, because the vehicle and the shape of the unit both move it. Two things fix the quote: what you run, and whereabouts you are — Sudgrove itself, across at Edgeworth, or anywhere else in the GL postcode area. It is fixed prior to anyone travelling.
You get a 30-day warranty on the work, with aftercare taken care of under it. Where the light reappears during the term, a technician drives back to Sudgrove.
Vehicles we clean DPFs on near Sudgrove
The same on-site visit takes in:
- Cars of any model
- Light goods vehicles and car-derived vans
- Your HGV vehicles
- Plant equipment
- Farm equipment and machinery
The DPF is treated in place on each one, at your door across in Sudgrove rather than at our premises.
You will want the other route if the car will not fire up at all: the DPF comes off, travels to our premises by a courier, and is cleared within 24 hours of reaching us. We do not remove or refit units for both services.
Fantastic service from Andras and his trainee assistant (Andy?) sorry the name has slipped my brain. Andras was very knowledgeable and he got my van running within good time. I'm very happy with the service I was given! Thank you.
Big thank you to the mechanic who came out to clean my DPF. He was extremely knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, and provided an amazing customer service experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Thank you Igor for resolving the dpf issue with my vw cc on 15.7.24. Kudos to the back office team as well for answering my questions beforehand. Vroom, vroom!
The GL area and Sudgrove: where we work
Edgeworth, Wishanger, and the villages beyond Miserden and Whiteway all sit on the same route as Sudgrove, and our engineers are down Edgeworth Road most weeks.
Phone anyway if you are further out across Gloucestershire. Coverage is country-wide. What settles the day is how full the calendar already is, not how far out you happen to be.
What Sudgrove owners ask about on-site DPF cleaning
How much time is the appointment?
Two hours or so, unless the filter's severely clogged and has to be treated twice.
What does on-site DPF cleaning come to in Sudgrove?
It opens from £299, and there's a call-out fee on top covering the call-out, the diagnostic and the advice. The car and your location both move the number, so we quote on the phone.
Can you get to my place or my work?
Either, anywhere in Sudgrove or the surrounding Gloucestershire area. Nothing is detached. Wherever the car happens to be parked is where the work happens.
When can someone reach Sudgrove?
Usually the day itself or the next, subject to what is already in. Call 0303 330 1830 and we'll tell you straight away what's available across the GL patch.
Is there anything to pay if it is found not to be the unit?
Regardless that charge holds, since it covers the call-out, the diagnostic and the advice. No charge is raised for work that was not done.
What happens if that dash light comes back?
You are sent an engineer back out to Sudgrove, covered by the 30-day warranty.
After the cleaning, how many months will it last?
How the motor is run afterwards governs that. Out beyond Gloucester, or along the M5, is worth far more to the DPF than short trips round Edgeworth and back.
