Mobile DPF Cleaner

Streetly, West Midlands: Mobile DPF Cleaning

With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. Your motor is not taken off and the filter will not come off. An engineer comes at your door across Streetly, treats the diesel particulate filter still on the vehicle and carries out a DPF regeneration.

You'll know a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean starting from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.

Most people find us with the light already on, and the motor low on power. That is the situation this page is meant for.

DPF light on? What happens next

It could not be the filter in the end. That is the first thing. A clean is not where a visit starts. A scan is — plenty of faults show up as the same warning.

How the motor is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.

  • Vehicle yet driving fine on an amber light — have a go at a long steady run first. It costs nothing and frequently sorts the filter without assistance.
  • Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
  • Get it looked at rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

Signs the car has been sending you

By the time the light appears, things have generally been deteriorating for a while. It is late news:

  • climbing uphill, the power drops away
  • an engine whose revs will not rise as before
  • the fuel use is down
  • quietly, the stop/start gives up
  • the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

None of that is conclusive by itself. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.

Why diesel particulate filters block near Streetly

Being a residential suburb, Streetly generates just the driving a DPF manages least well. Look at an ordinary week: Four Oaks Primary School and back, Waters Drive at a halt before nine, a short hop to M&S Foodhall, a hop to Butlers Lane. Nothing there runs long enough or runs hot enough to finish a regeneration. What should burn off stays put.

Save when you have a routine cause to drive out to the M6 Toll, under 3 miles from Streetly, or across to Lichfield under 10 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a sustained drive. Geography is no help.

Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration

What limp mode comes down to is the vehicle looking after itself. The entire problem is that a proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.

The standard advice — take it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. Past that stage — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter needs a clean.

The vehicle stays put for on-site DPF cleaning round Streetly

The filter does not budge. That is the bit most people do not see coming: the job happens with the DPF yet bolted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a while.

Nothing is touched until other faults are ruled out. That means a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated components.

Then the clean. A solution is injected through the access point on that car and expands inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily clogged filters.

Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean loosened. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Streetly, with you along, or it is done where the motor stands and the real-time data is checked once done.

Both sets of figures go over by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second diagnostic is what confirms the change, resets the light and notes whatever is still showing.

The failures a DPF clean cannot answer

A clean fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • the EGR valve held open
  • AdBlue system faults
  • injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration running whatsoever
  • the turbo pushing oil into the filter

That is what the first scan is for. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your filter is cleared in place and goes back into service.

DPF cleaning charges around Streetly

Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

Not one flat rate would be straight, so the price is agreed over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The car moves it, and so does the postcode — Streetly, Four Oaks, or a spot otherwise out in the B postcode area.

Cleaning that will not work is not cleaning you pay for, and the check is what says so. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.

Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer comes back to Streetly.

Where we get to round Streetly, and what we clean

A single mobile service takes in private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is done in place rather than carried anywhere.

The same run that has technicians on Waters Drive most weeks covers Streetly, Four Oaks, Hill Hook and the villages beyond Little Aston. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out across West Midlands is still worth a ring, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Streetly

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
It may, provided you catch it early and limp mode has not set in. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not ten minutes flat to M&S Foodhall and back.
How long does the visit last?
Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is severely blocked.
In Streetly, what does it run to?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the check and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we quote on the phone.
Is it essential for me to be present?
No. The car requires a spot to sit for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the open road, monitored.
Coming to Streetly — how soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the B area has available.
The filter — does it leave the vehicle?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is done in place. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
What if the light returns?
Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Streetly.
