Mobile DPF Cleaning in Street, North Yorkshire
Cleaning the DPF happens at the vehicle, not at a workshop. A technician turns up at your address over in Street, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
You'll know a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean starting from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
The light is already on and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we generally come across people, and roughly what this page is about.
DPF light on? What happens next
It could not be the filter at all. That is the main thing. Treatment is not where a visit starts. A check is — plenty of faults register as the same warning.
It matters what you do with the motor between now and the visit.
- Amber light, motor still driving fine — a long constant run can still sort it on its own. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- That window has gone once the car has fallen into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.
What the vehicle has been showing you
The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have normally been building for some time:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- the fuel consumption is worse
- stop/start silently packing in
- the cabin reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
Alone, none of that is conclusive. The light beside them suggests a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters clog near Street
Being a rural hamlet, Street generates exactly the use a DPF manages worst. Look at a normal week: Glaisdale Primary School and back, New Road at a crawl before half nine, a short hop to Co-op Food, a hop to Lealholm. None of it there goes on long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. The soot load builds up rather than burning off.
The A1(M) lies under 50 miles from Street, Ripon under 50 miles off, and unless something pulls you out that way often, full weeks pass without the long unbroken run that scours a DPF. Geography does not assist.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer run
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode means. The real catch is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is capped.
The common advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, up until it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are the far side of that point, and the filter requires treatment rather than more driving.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is treated in Street
On your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can sit for a couple of hours: the job is done with the filter even now bolted on, which is the part most drivers do not see coming.
The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and related parts, so nothing is started while another fault is still possible.
Then the treatment. A solution goes in through the entry point on that motor and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. Severely clogged filters sometimes require a second pass.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean freed. Come with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Street. Leave it and the regeneration runs in place, with running data checked once it is done.
Finally the check runs again — the change proven, the light cleared, anything still open logged. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
One thing is what treatment cures — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- temperature or pressure sensors showing a block that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system failing
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever completes
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
The first check is there for precisely that. When one of those proves the fault, you find out about it at the outset rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no solution. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into service.
The cost of DPF cleaning across Street
Every visit carries a call-out charge — coming out to you, making the booking, doing the check and offering the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
Once we are told what you drive, and roughly what the filter will take, the price gets settled over phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. Where you are tells as much as what you drive: Street itself, Houlsyke next door, or further out within the YO postcode area.
Treatment that will not work is not treatment you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done, the call-out charge even so applies.
If the light comes back inside that window, an engineer heads back out to Street — the clean carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

Where we travel near Street, and what we clean
A single mobile service covers private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
The same run that puts our engineers on New Road most weeks takes in Street, Houlsyke, Danby Botton and the places beyond Lealholm. It is the calendar, not the distance, that settles whether it is one day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so call still from farther out through North Yorkshire.

Things Street drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Soon enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it wants — not ten minutes flat to Co-op Food and back.
- Does the visit take long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily loaded filters sometimes take a second pass, which lengthens it.
- How much does it cost around Street?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the scan and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you run and where you are both change the price.
- Do I have to be around?
- The car requires a spot for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Choosing to be there is welcome: the regeneration then runs out on the move, monitored.
- Coming to Street — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the YO area.
- Does the filter leave the vehicle?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it sits. We will not lift filters off or fit them back on, either way.
- The light reappears — then what?
- The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Street.
