Mobile DPF Cleaning for Straidarran, County Londonderry
On-site DPF cleaning travels to the motor. The fitter pulls up at your place over in Straidarran and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the figure is settled by the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is on already and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we usually come across people, and what this page is about.
Your DPF light is showing — what next?
First thing: it is not automatically the filter. Plenty of faults put the same light on the very same dash, which is why a visit opens with a diagnostic rather than with treatment.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then matters.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, car driving as normal, just one even run, no outlay.
- That window has closed once the motor has slipped into limp mode. Driving will not do it now.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it looked at if the interior smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
Symptoms have generally been growing for a while before the light even appears. Last news, in other words:
- power tailing off, above all pulling uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- fuel economy getting worse
- the stop/start silently packing in
- the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
That is not proof alone. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Straidarran, and the reason
Straidarran is a small village, and the driving that goes with one is the worst sort for a DPF. The school run to the local primary school, Crown Street at a crawl at half past eight, a few minutes to the local shops, the run to the nearest station — none of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Instead of clearing, the unburnt soot builds up.
Except when you have a regular need to drive out to the M77, over 50 miles from Straidarran, or out to Derry under 15 miles away, whole weeks go by without a long steady run. Geography is no help.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode ends it
The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode blocks: power held down, revs kept low, no regeneration available.
The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, up until it is not. The far side of that line — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter requires a clean.
The motor stays in place for call-out DPF cleaning round Straidarran
Nothing is taken from the motor. That surprises people. The DPF remains fitted where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, anywhere it can sit for two hours or so.
First a scan. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it taken before any of it is touched.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning solution is injected through the entry point on that motor and expands inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Where the filter is heavily clogged, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Straidarran if you are present, or a static regeneration where the vehicle waits, with the real-time data checked afterwards.
A second check proves the change, puts out the warning light and logs anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed, so you end up with the before and after figures to hand.
Where a clean is not the fix
Only one fault is answered by treatment: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- pressure sensors flagging a block that is not there
- an EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system fault
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting whatsoever
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. You are told before any work starts, not after you have handed over, should it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no fix. What gets typed in as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your existing filter is cleared in place and goes back into service.
The price of DPF cleaning in Straidarran
Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Once we are told what you run, and broadly what the filter will want, the figure gets fixed on the phone. A single price for all would not be straight. The motor moves it, and so does the address — Straidarran, Banagher, or anywhere otherwise out in the BT postcode area.
A clean that will not do it is not treatment you pay for, and the check is what says so. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone came out, carried out the check and offered you the advice.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Straidarran if the light returns inside the time.
Zoltan was amazing, courteous very professional and polite, he's given my Dads car a new lease of life as he needs the car for his Cancer treatment. Dad and I thank Zoltan for your work. A real gentleman. Thank you.
Good job done by Daz. Blocked DPF sorted and car now runs normal, next day service too so well pleased.
The dpf fixer mechanic notified me of his impending arrival, carried out the clean, readings and regeneration; and explained the process. Very pleasant and informative.
The vehicles we clean and the area we reach round Straidarran
Private cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles — one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done on the vehicle rather than carried anywhere.
Straidarran is seldom a special trip: engineers are working Crown Street nearly every week, and the same run takes in Banagher, Foreglen and the spots out past Limavady. It is the diary, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so phone even from even further out around County Londonderry.

Common questions on DPF cleaning around Straidarran
- Will a long drive shift it?
- It may, provided you get it early enough and limp mode has not begun. Ten minutes to the local shops and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for some time, will.
- The visit runs how long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily clogged filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
- Across Straidarran, what does it come to?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing goes by phone.
- Have I have to be there?
- Space for the motor to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a monitored drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Straidarran?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is normal. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is free across the BT area.
- The filter — does it come off the motor?
- Done where it sits, on this service, so no. Nor does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Straidarran.
