Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Stour Meadows, Dorset
On-site DPF cleaning comes to the vehicle. The technician turns up at your door over in Stour Meadows and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleared on the car, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
You'll have a number by phone before anyone departs, the clean starting from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the vehicle down on power. That is the situation this page is aimed at.
Your DPF light is lit — what now?
The DPF is not automatically what is at fault, and that comes first. A number of faults put the very same light on the very same dashboard, which is why a visit begins with a check rather than with treatment.
How the vehicle is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.
- A long even run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the motor goes normally. Costs nothing at all, so try that before calling.
- Vehicle already dropped into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not touch it now.
- Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the motor has been warning you
Last news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for some time before it arrives:
- power falling off, particularly pulling uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- the fuel consumption is worse
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
None of that is proof on its own. The light with them points at a full filter.
The reason diesel particulate filters block round Stour Meadows
For a DPF, the worst use is the sort you find in a small village such as Stour Meadows. Not one bit of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to William Barnes Primary School, B3091 standing at the morning rush, five minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to Gillingham (Dorset). Instead of burning away, the soot collects.
Except when you have a standing reason to drive out to the M27, under 50 miles from Stour Meadows, or over to Salisbury under 25 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a long steady stint. Geography is unhelpful.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the car protecting itself. The whole problem is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not pull and power is held down.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, up until it is not. The filter needs a clean rather than driving once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is treated round Stour Meadows
The filter does not come off. That is the bit most drivers do not expect: the job is done with the DPF still bolted to the motor, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can wait for a few hours.
A scan happens first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated components, so other faults are cleared before a thing is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never move are freed second, by a cleaning solution put through the access point on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to need doing twice.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean freed. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Stour Meadows; if not, statically where the vehicle stands, with the running data read once done.
Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second diagnostic is what proves the change, clears the light and notes whatever is still showing.
Where cleaning is not the solution
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not help:
- pressure or temperature sensors reporting a restriction that is not there
- the EGR valve held open
- AdBlue system failures
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration completing at all
- oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo
The first check is there for exactly that. Transpiring to be one of them means learning it before any work starts, not after handing over a penny.
A couple more worth noting. Leaving the filter hollowed out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is treated in place and put back into use.
Prices for DPF cleaning in Stour Meadows
Any visit attracts a call-out charge — coming out to you, taking the booking, running the check and offering the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
No single flat rate would be truthful, so the number is fixed on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. A pair of things move it: what you run, and where you are — Stour Meadows itself, out at Hammoon, or further out in the DT postcode area.
Where the scan says cleaning will not work, you are not billed for cleaning. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless holds.
The clean carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Stour Meadows if the light comes back inside that time.
Had my cars dpf cleaned 3 days ago and warning light has not come on. Its a little early to tell if its fixed, but so far so good.
Had my Dpf cleaned today after after séseveral attempt from garage. It was a pleasant and professional work done by Liamf. I will definitely recommend at 100%.
Keiran was friendly and professional, he fixed the problem and offered advice on how to avoid the issue in the future. We were very pleased with the work.
Where we travel round Stour Meadows, and what we clean
One mobile service covers cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is done on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Most weeks there is already someone on B3091, so Stour Meadows seldom means a journey of its own, and Hammoon, Fontmell Parva and the places past Manston come with it. It is the schedule, not the distance, that picks whether it is one day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call still from even further out through Dorset.

Things Stour Meadows drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- It may, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not set in. Fifteen minutes to Co-op Food and back will not be enough; motorway speed, sustained for some time, will.
- How long does the visit take?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is severely loaded.
- How much does it cost in Stour Meadows?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the price.
- Do I have to be present?
- You do not need to stand with it — the motor just wants a spot to stand for a couple of hours. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
- Can someone get to Stour Meadows soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the diary. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is available across the DT area.
- Is the filter removed from the vehicle?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. We never lift filters off or fit them back on, in either direction.
- The light comes back — then what?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Stour Meadows.
