The car has been warning you already
The light is late news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been mounting for some time:
- falling off on power, especially uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they used to
- worse fuel use
- silently, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
On its own, none of that is proof. Next to the light with them, the filter is a fair guess.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Stoulton
