Mobile DPF Cleaning around Stolford and Somerset
Mobile DPF cleaning goes to the motor. A technician arrives at your door across Stolford, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
You'll have a figure by phone before anyone goes, the clean starting from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
The light is on already and the car is short of power — that is how we generally meet people, and roughly what this page covers.
DPF light on? What happens next
First thing: it is not automatically the unit. Several faults put the same light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with a clean.
The driving you do in the meantime counts. That is the other thing.
- Vehicle even now driving fine on an amber light — try a long even run first. It costs nothing and frequently sorts the filter without assistance.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has now shut.
- Stop planning long drives and get it checked if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Signs the vehicle has been sending you
Symptoms have normally been growing for a while before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:
- climbing uphill, the power falls off
- an engine whose revs will not pull as before
- fuel use getting worse
- the stop/start quietly packing in
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
By itself, none of that is proof. The light alongside them indicates a full filter.
Choked diesel particulate filters near Stolford, and the why
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the kind you find in a rural hamlet such as Stolford. The school run to Wiveliscombe Primary School, Syndercombe Lane at a standstill at half past eight, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Tiverton Parkway — none of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should clear builds up instead.
Unless you have a standing cause to get out to the M5, under 15 miles from Stolford, or out to Exeter under 50 miles away, entire weeks pass without a sustained stint. Geography is unhelpful.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
Limp mode is the car looking after itself. The whole problem is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is capped.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is sound advice, until the day it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that line, and the filter needs a clean rather than more driving.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Stolford
Most owners do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF even now fixed to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a few hours.
A scan happens first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and associated components, so other faults are cleared before anything is started.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning solution is injected through the entry point on that motor and expands inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to take doing twice.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Stolford, with you there, or it is done where the motor sits and the running data is verified once done.
A second scan verifies the change, resets the warning light and lists anything still open. Both read-outs are emailed, so you end up with the before and after figures recorded.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Only one fault is cured by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve stuck open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- a regeneration that never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- oil working through the filter from a failing turbo
Which is why the scan comes first. You are told before any work begins, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is treated where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it gutted a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth knowing.
The cost for DPF cleaning across Stolford
A clean begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Not one flat rate would be straight, so the figure is agreed on the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. Two separate things shift it: what you run, and where you are — Stolford itself, over at Clatworthy, or otherwise out within the TA postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for treatment that the diagnostic says will not do it. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Stolford if the light returns inside the period.
Andras was excellent in explaining everything he was doing as it took him some time to determine the source of the fault-great patience and persistence. I have no qualms in recommending DPF Fixer. First rate service!
The service was very prompt, courteous and efficient, and the car is now running better than it has for ages. The engineer, Liam, was professional and very helpful, filling me in on the details of what was done clearly and concisely. I can thoroughly recommend the company.
Fast response, efficient and clean work done, Kieran was open and informative at all stages of the process. The analysis of cars performance before and after treatment was a pleasing confidence booster for future motoring. Well done dpf fixer Ltd.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we reach around Stolford
The filter is done where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Our engineers are along Syndercombe Lane most weeks, so Stolford is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run covers Clatworthy, Sticklepath and the villages out past Huish Champflower. It is the schedule, not the distance, that settles whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call anyway from even further out through Somerset.

Things Stolford drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- Early enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Ten minutes to Co-op Food and back will not be enough; motorway speed, held for a stretch, will.
- Does the visit last long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
- What does it run to across Stolford?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for travelling that pays for the scan and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we price on the phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- No. The car wants somewhere to sit for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
- Travelling to Stolford — how soon?
- That depends on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the TA area.
- Does the filter leave the motor?
- Done where it sits, on this service, so no. And neither does getting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- The light reappears — then what?
- The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Stolford.
