Mobile DPF Cleaning around Stockfield, West Midlands

Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the car. The engineer turns up at your place in Stockfield and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the car, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.

Allow for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, fixed on the phone before anyone sets off.

If the light is on already and the motor is low on power, this page is yours. That is how most owners get to us.

What to check when the DPF light comes on

First thing: it is not automatically the unit. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — a number of faults register as the same signal.

It tells what you manage with the car between now and the visit.

  • Amber light, vehicle even now driving fine — a long constant run can still shift it alone. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you ring anything.
  • Once the motor is in limp mode, motoring will not shift it. The window has closed.
  • Stop arranging long drives and get it looked at if the cabin smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.

Before the light, what the motor was warning you

The light is last news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have usually been building for weeks:

  • less power, especially climbing uphill
  • you notice the revs stop short of where they used to go
  • worse fuel use
  • without a word, the stop/start bows out
  • diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears

Any one of those, taken by itself, is not conclusive. With the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.

Why diesel particulate filters block around Stockfield

Being a residential suburb, Stockfield throws up precisely the driving a DPF copes with worst. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Cedars Academy, Wynford Road barely moving at half past eight, ten minutes to Lidl, the run to Acocks Green. Instead of burning off, the soot builds up.

Where you sit does not oblige either. The M6 is under 5 miles from Stockfield and Birmingham is under 5 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way often, entire weeks go by without the sustained run that might scour the filter alone.

The point a DPF regeneration can no longer complete

The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode is. The whole catch is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not pull and power is held down.

Good advice, that motorway run — right up until the day it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are past that stage, and the filter needs cleaning rather than road work.

Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is done in Stockfield

Nothing is taken from the car. That catches out people. The DPF stays bolted where it is and the work is done around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, any place it can stand for a couple of hours.

The ECU is read first, showing soot load by proportion and by actual weight, along with a look over of sensors, glow plugs and associated components, so nothing is started while another fault is still open.

Then the clean. A cleaning solution is fed in through the access port on that car and expands inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Where the filter is badly clogged, allow for a second pass.

Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean freed. Come with the motor and it is done as a monitored drive out of Stockfield. Park it and the regeneration is done in place, with running data checked once it is done.

Both read-outs go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second scan is what confirms the change, resets the light and logs whatever is still open.

When a DPF clean is not the answer

Treatment fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • sensors, pressure or temperature, flagging a restriction that is not real
  • EGR valves that stick open
  • an AdBlue system problem
  • glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration starting in the first place
  • turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter

That is what the first scan is for. You are told before the work starts, not after you have handed over, if it turns out to be one of those.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no solution. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into work.

DPF cleaning costs in Stockfield

Each visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, carrying out the check and offering the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.

No single flat rate would be straight, so the price is agreed by the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. What you drive and where you are both change it: Stockfield itself, across at South Yardley, or otherwise out in the B postcode area.

You are not charged for cleaning that the check says will not do it. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, did the diagnostic and gave you the advice.

If the light comes back inside that window, an engineer travels back out to Stockfield — the job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

Very professional company, i would highly recommend, the DPF tech who came out went above and beyond in fixing a few problems that he didn't need to making sure the trucks filter worked upon completion.

Philip B.

Phoned on Thursday they came out Monday to do a dpf clean on my vivaro out side my house. Andras was really helpful and genuinely a really nice polite friendly guy. I would highly recommend this company.

Daren R.

Nat arrived on time, super friendly and quickly reassured me that it was a blocked filter. Worked his magic, saved me from having to cancel work commitments. Highly recommend.

Where we travel around Stockfield, and what we clean

Whatever it is — private car, van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one mobile service stands, and the filter never departs it.

Most weeks there is already someone on Wynford Road, so Stockfield hardly ever means a special trip, and South Yardley, Gilbertstone and the places past Bickenhill follow. Further out across West Midlands is still worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that settles between this day and the next.

Questions Stockfield drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?
It may, provided you catch it early and limp mode has not set in. A long run at motorway speed is what it takes — not ten minutes or so to Lidl and back.
Roughly how long does it last?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely clogged filter can require cleaning twice, which runs on.
The cost around Stockfield — what is it?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that takes in the scan and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
Have I need to be there?
No. The motor requires space to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. The regeneration can be run as a watched drive if you would sooner be there.
Coming to Stockfield — how soon?
Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the B area.
Does the filter leave the motor?
It is cleaned where it sits, on the call-out service. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
The light reappears — then what?
The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Stockfield.
